What do you mean you haven’t heard of squid season? Well fortunately the good folk of Casa Angelina, on the stunning Amalfi coast, know a thing or two about cephalopods and are ready and waiting to pass that knowledge on to eager guests.
Squid fishing excursions can be arranged for guests visiting the luxury Italian retreat and can be booked as either a private experience or as part of group. Praiano was once a bustling fishing village, so in a nod to its roots, Casa Angelina has introduced the excursions with a local expert fisherman as a guide.
Taking place at night, the most optimal time to catch squid, guests will set sail from the Marina di Praia on a Gozzo Sorrentino, a typical wooden boat from the region, and will travel three miles off the coast before attempting to catch their own dinner.
Once back at the hotel, the catch of the day will become part of a cookery lesson, as the guests are taught how to prepare and cook the region’s traditional totani e patate – or squid and potatoes.
