Berlin has plenty to shout about in 2019. As well as commemorating 30 years since the fall of the Berlin wall this November, the German capital’s event infrastructure is being boosted by a number of major developments, further increasing its appeal to planners. Here’s four of the hottest developments…

Hub27

A new multifunctional hall on the premises of Berlin ExpoCenter City, hub27 Berlin will provide 10,000sqm of event space when it opens later this year, making it ideal for large conferences and congresses. The also offers 20 rooms featuring flexible partition-walling for between 10 and 250 delegates and a rooftop terrace for events for up to 200 persons.

Estrel Berlin

One of Berlin’s most popular event venues, Estrel Berlin is also expanding its congress capacities. Directly adjacent to the Convention Hall II, the Estrel Congress Center is being enlarged by a further 3,500 square metres, with plans for 12 new rooms and an auditorium for 900 people to be built on two floors. The opening is planned for 2020.

Meanwhile, hotel capacity is also increasing with the construction of Estrel Tower (main image), which will add an additional 814 rooms (there are currently 1,125 rooms). With 176 metres and 46 storeys, the new tower will be about two-and-a-half-times as high as the current Hotel Estrel, making it highest hotel tower in Germany.

Wartehalle

Set in an old train station that dates back to 1897, Wartehalle provides a unique backdrop for a range of events, with its brick walls and loft atmosphere. The 450 m² event area can host meetings and conferences for up to 200 persons, gala dinners for up to 250 guests and receptions for up to 350 people. If the weather permits, there is also a 100 m² terrace for up to 80 people.

Campus-Hotel Adlershof

This new MICE hotel, currently being built, will offer 320 four-star category rooms when it opens. A spacious event area with conference rooms and a large hall that will accommodate up to 1,000 participants, along with a multifunction hall for receptions and exhibitions. The pièce de resistance will be the skybar on the top floor of the 54-metre-high (177 foot) hotel tower.
