For many graduates, a pathway to an event career was destroyed by Covid-19 and this initiative was to give practical experience with the
Disrupt the V Awards competition!

THE COMPETITION

Overview

This award will recognise the best creative concept or idea to shape an element of the micebook V Awards Night 2021. We will be looking for ideas that really disrupt the traditional awards format and bring real creativity, enjoyment and memorability to the evening. This award is open to event graduates who have only be recently graduated (2019 – 2021) or anyone who has less than 2 years paid or active event experience.

Inclusions

As a team of up to 3, we are asking you to shape an element of the V Awards taking place live (with a hybrid element) at the Nobu Hotel London Portman Square on 3rd September 2021. This can be an idea to shape any aspect of the event, from the invitation or registration through to arrival, entertainment, dinner, the awards, hybrid experience or post event reminders.

We are looking for ideas that can influence (not exhaustive):

  • Guest emotion
  • Travel
  • Virtual audience engagement and inclusivity
  • Networking
  • Charity collection
  • Winners delight
  • Pre and post event engagement
  • Community building

Creative Concept

The VDisrupt competition is all about creativity and judging will be heavily weighted on the idea or concept itself. Big or small we want you to creatively design and deliver your idea LIVE at the V Awards so that they disrupt the normal awards experience.

Planning

Ideas should also be practical and have a realistic chance of being implemented. Hint – the simplest and most cost effective ideas can be the most creative and could have a better chance of being chosen. The ideas should consider safety, sustainability and diversity, although these elements are not crucial to winning this competition.

Costings

If there are cost implications to your idea, this should be outlined as well as how these costs could potentially be covered.

Submissions

Entries can either be presented as a video submission or a written entry. Video submissions should be no longer than 5 minutes and written entries should be no more than 5 pages/slides. You will not be judged on the quality of your video or written entry, but purely on the quality of the work that you are presenting.

We encourage submissions to cover:

  • Background if any behind the idea
  • Which audience will it impact – Live, Virtual or Both
  • Desired impact on the audience
  • How will it be executed
  • Cost, sustainability, safety or inclusion implications

The Judges

Frequently Asked Questions

The winner or winners will receive a minimum of £500 (per team) for their idea if chosen. The amount may increase if the execution and work required to implement is longer and this will be discussed with the winners in advance.

Any element of the event can be shaped. From the invitation & ticketing, guest journey from arrival to departure, pre & post networkivenue check-in, physical awards, stage set – look & feel, seating plan, table design & decor, F&B service throughout the evening, entertainment, afterparty. It can be a big idea that impacts a large part of the evening or a very small idea that only affects a small element or part of the experience. The idea will be judged on its relative creativity for that moment.

Any event student that has graduated within the last two years or anyone who has less than two years (active) paid event experience.

No you can enter as an individual or as a team of up to 3 members.

There is no set amount of winners. We may have several winners if the ideas have really shown great creativity and will enhance the V Awards experience for the guests.

The entry can be in any format. It can be a document, a video or a physical item that is sent in. You will not be judged on the format of your submission, but purely on the quality of the work that you are presenting.

The judges will be a sub-set of the main V Awards judges. Please see here.

The winner(s) or winning team or teams, will plan and execute their idea, with the guidance of the micebook event team, from planning stages all the way through to execution at the event itself, where winners will get recognised in-front of some of the industry’s top agency and corporate influencers. The winning entry will be judged on the quality of the idea and work submitted. If you are unable to attend the awards ceremony, you can still enter the competition and be in the running to win.

You are not expected to reach out to partners and get their confirmation for entry submission. Company links can be included in your proposal but you are not expected to get their buy-in at this stage.

No expenses will be covered for the submission process. Any expenses relating to the event night / implementation of a winning entry will have to be authorised by micebook.

There is no budget considered for ideas and cost implications will need to be considered. Ideas that require lower investment may have a better chance of being deliverable at the Awards.

We will be using the pre-function area and ballroom. Further details can be seen on their micebook profile here.
