After several years of being off the pitch list for meetings and incentives, Istanbul is finally making a comeback, with agencies including Top Banana seeing renewed interest. Mister micebook takes a trip back to check out what’s hot in this intriguing destination at the crossroads of Europe and Asia…
Mister Micebook considers himself to be quite the airport aficionado – as his well-stamped passport attests. Little wonder then that Istanbul is high on his list for 2019. The new airport boasts an unusual control tower, is capable of one day welcoming 200 million passengers and has six runways not to mention a design-led interior.
Hotel options abound with luxury retreats and jewel-like boutiques in abundance. The Raffles Istanbul features gorgeous Turkish art, a decadent spa for pampering and indoor and outdoor pools. Mister Micebook is a fan of the pan-Asian restaurant, Isokyo, ideally followed by cocktails in the Long Bar.
If you’d rather be up close to the frankly jaw-dropping Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque then only Sultanahmet will do and where better than the Four Seasons? Set in a former prison, the hotel delivers both an ambience and style redolent of the Ottoman era.
And coming soon, the Mandarin Hotel Group is set to launch a new property in 2022. The Mandarin Oriental Etiler will feature around 150 rooms upping the destination’s luxury stock once more.
