All eyes will be on Liverpool this month, as the city hosts Eurovision 2023 on behalf of last year’s winners Ukraine. So, it’s the perfect time to check out the newest openings in the city for event planners….
The first Radisson RED hotel in the North of England opened its doors in Liverpool in December. Located in a renovated Grade II-listed property that was one of the original British railway hotels in the 1800s, Radisson RED Liverpool is located next to, and connected with, Liverpool Lime Street train station. The extensive renovation works saw the restoration of a nineteenth century, stained glass window and a grand sandstone staircase.
The 10-storey hotel includes 201 guest rooms and suites, some overlooking acclaimed concert venue St George’s Hall, featuring Radisson RED’s signature bold, cutting-edge design. A 1960s-style scooter and sidecar as well as a submarine sculpture can be found in the hotel, in honour of the city’s famous music scene and, arguably the city’s most famous export, The Beatles.
Destination restaurant Stoke offers a menu focused on ‘farm-to-fork’ cuisine working with local suppliers, as well as an open kitchen and robata grill, while five meeting rooms can accommodate up to 50 people for private events.
The Municipal Hotel Liverpool, MGallery
Global hotel giant Accor will open a new hotel – The Municipal Hotel Liverpool, MGallery (main image and right) – inside one of the city’s most historic venues. The new hotel is housed inside Liverpool’s Municipal Buildings, which originally opened in 1868 and was formerly the home of Liverpool City Council until the local authority moved to the Cunard Building in 2017.
The hotel features 179 rooms, seven meeting rooms, a cocktail bar and sanctuary spa, which includes a 16-metre indoor swimming pool, sauna, steam room, nail bar and jacuzzi. A brasserie restaurant, Seaforth, offers both British and global cuisine, while the Palm Court Bar occupies the central atrium, serving a traditional afternoon tea in the day and cocktails by night.
