With Jumeirah and Waldorf Astoria among a number of high-end hotel brands planning to make their debut in Bali, the idyllic Indonesian island could be set to become a hot favourite among incentive planners. We check out four new and upcoming openings…
COMO Uma Canggu
Opened earlier this year, the luxury resort is located in Canggu on Bali’s southern coast — an area famed for its laid-back café scene and surf waves. With surfing being one of the major attractions, the resort has partnered with Tropicsurf to provide surf lessons and guidance for novices to surf pros, with a six-mile stretch of beach as the training grounds. The property’s 119-room are spread across one- and two-bedroom residences as well as three-bedroom duplex penthouses featuring individual rooftop pools. There’s also COMO Beach Club, focusing on ‘new world cuisine’ and the COMO Shambhala Retreat with seven treatment rooms offering Asian-inspired therapies.
Jumeirah Bali
Scheduled to open in 2018, Jumeirah’s first property in Bali is located on the southern tip of the exclusive Jimbaran district, looking out onto the pristine sands of the renowned Dreamland surfer’s beach and adjacent to Bali’s New Kuta Golf Course. Offering 80 spacious hotel suites and 25 private villas, and set amidst lush, tropical gardens, Jumeirah Bali will feature architectural designs reflective of Bali’s rich cultural heritage and modelled after an ancient Javanese-Hindu water palace. The resort will also offer a variety of fine international and local cuisines in three restaurants, Jumeirah’s signature Talise Spa, and an exclusive cliff-top wedding and events venue boasting stunning sunset views.
Hyatt Regency Bali
Set on the old site of Bali Hyatt on the main street of Sanur, this new hotel is located on a delightful beachfront and nine hectares of lush tropical gardens, just 16km away from the International Ngurah Rai Airport. Set to open by the end of the year, each of the 363 rooms is elegantly designed with a modern Balinese touch and overlooks the tranquil gardens or the Indian Ocean. Dining options include Omang Omang restaurant, which serves comfort food from Indonesia and around the world and Italian beachfront restaurant Pizzaria, while the Piano Lounge in the lobby, will serve drinks and snacks with nightly entertainment.
Waldorf Astoria Bali
Perched 40 meters above sea level on a prime cliff-front land of Bali’s southernmost peninsula, Waldorf Astoria Bali (main picture above) will offer superb panoramic views of the Indian Ocean when it debuts in 2020. Designed by SCDA Architects, Waldorf Astoria Bali will span a sprawling 13 hectares and offer 96 luxurious guest rooms, ranging from one-bedroom villas to six-bedroom suite villas. Waldorf Astoria Bali will also offer a range of exclusive events facilities with its wedding chapel, outdoor event lawn, event courtyard and a business centre. A stunning outdoor sea-facing pool with a beach club, an 8,000 square-metre private beach, health club and spa, two specialty restaurants and a destination bar will also feature.
