If you’re looking for a venue to impress and wow your event guests, a private castle is hard to beat. So, when we heard that Middleton Castle has announced that it’s now available for private hire, for the first time in 600 years no less, we just had to make it our Venue of the Week.

Set in a stunning estate amongst the Norfolk countryside, Middleton Castle is an elegant and imposing castle replete with its own moat, embattled parapets, and corner turrets – all dating back to when it was first built by Thomas Scales, the 7th Baron Scales, in 1455.

Easily accessible from Kings Lynn train station and both Norwich and Stansted Airports, this Grade I listed building has been a family home since the 1600s, and home to the Barclay family since the 1880s.

So, let’s take a closer look at what’s on offer for event planners…

Steeped in history and surrounded by beautiful landscapes, Middleton Castle is an exclusive-use venue that can accommodate up to thirty guests.

It offers numerous versatile event spaces and expansive gardens, making it an ideal location for a range of events, from board meetings and corporate away days to product launches, team-building retreats and company celebrations.

There are four versatile reception rooms, two of which feature stunning open fires, an oak-panelled dining room seating up to thirty people, a billiards room featuring table tennis, snooker table, and board games, Summer House, outdoor seating areas that include fire pits and a barbecue, and a 450 square metre marquee footprint or helicopter landing.

Guests can enjoy staying in one of the castle’s 15 elegantly designed rooms and suites, each offering comfort and style with modern amenities, and the exclusive use policy means groups will enjoy complete privacy.

The castle’s dedicated event planning team will work closely with clients to create bespoke experiences, ensuring, including exquisite cuisine, crafted by an expert culinary team, featuring locally sourced ingredients and customisable menus.

“We are delighted to open the doors of Middleton Castle for private hire,” said Thomas Barclay owner of Middleton Castle. “Our team is dedicated to providing exceptional service and creating unforgettable experiences for our guests.
