The industry has paid tribute to Jayson Hodgkinson, who sadly passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on 22 April.
Hodgkinson set up events company Venue Choice 21 years ago with wife Pat and was well known and respected as an industry expert, and to many, a friend.
His world was his family, and his pride was in the business himself and Pat have grown over the last two decades.
“As a family we’re finding comfort in Jayson’s love of life and the way he lived it. There are certainly no regrets and if he could, he would. We’re lucky to have had such an incredible husband and dad in our life. So kind-hearted, silly, fun and one of a kind,” said Pat Hodgkinson.
“Together we are broken but urge you to be more Jayson. Live life to the fullest like he did, do all you can for the people around you and hold them close. Make every day an occasion.”
Known was the ‘man on the ground’ during events, many clients, suppliers and industry friends have paid tribute to Jayson online, sharing memories of fun, laughter, and his kind heart when meeting at various events around the world.
Here are just several of many comments from client’s and hotel suppliers:
“Jayson was always true to himself and fiercely protective of Venue Choice’s reputation. In many ways he could be considered a disrupter. Never a “yes” man and he lived to question the “why”.
“Beyond his professional contributions, Jayson’s warm smile, kindness, sense of humour, and infectious laugh left a lasting impression on all who met him. He had the rare ability to make everyone feel welcome and valued, creating a sense of community, and belonging that we will dearly miss.”
