A slew of new properties have opened in this delightful Portuguese destination…
Mister Micebook loves the Douro Valley – maybe it’s the pleasant weather, possibly the serene views and definitely a touch of the local fortified wines that have made him believe that this is the jewel of Portugal.
Newly opened PortoBay Flores (right and above), set in the historic town centre, effortlessly blends the history of Portuguese mansion with all the contemporary comforts of a luxury hotel.
The new property, sister to the four-star PortoBay Hotel Teatro features 66 rooms, a spa and indoor pool, gym plus the Bistrô Flores restaurant.
Meanwhile the gorgeous Maison Albar collection has expanded beyond its French roots with a debut of Le Monumental Palace, set in a historic listed building with a stunning neo-Gothic façade dating back to 1923.
Mister Micebook has packed his very best togs to blend in with the sheer opulence – in addition to the 63 rooms and 13 suites, guests can make use of the library, lounge, three restaurants and bars plus the spa and pool.
And a number of new properties are set to open beyond 2020, with the 278-room Radisson Red Porto, located in the Vila Nova de Gaia district, in the planning.
