Longevity Health & Wellness Hotel Alvor
Groups in search of ultimate R&R should check out this wellness-focused retreat – due to open in western Algarve in June. With panoramic views of the bay of Alvor, the 70-room hotel will offer a dedicated wellness and medical spa over two floors focused on a full array of medical and non-medical therapies for optimal health and wellness. A chromotherapy hammam and Epsom salt room with salt infusion make for complete detox and relaxation, whilst therapies on offer range from ozone therapy and osteopathy to dental detox and reshaping treatments. Longevity Health & Wellness Hotel will also feature a rooftop Pure Cafe by Longevity, The Mediterrânico Restaurant and the Chill Out & Relax Tea Lounge – with the focus being on local and functional, alkaline and anti-inflammatory foods.
Melia Lisboa
Originally due to open in 2018, the Melia Lisboa Hotel will be the group’s first five-star in Portugal when it finally makes its debut, now expected sometime in 2019. The property will offer 239 rooms, a 24-hour restaurant and a panoramic lounge-bar on the upper terrace with stunning views of the city. Targeting the growing “bleisure” market, the hotel will provide everything needed by guests visiting Lisbon for a combination of business travel and leisure. This includes facilities for conferences and conventions for between 50 and 550 people and a health club and Yhi Spa, the Meliá hotels’ Spa brand.
Selina Porto
Latin-American hospitality brand Selina made its debut in Porto in October – the first of a number of properties set to launch throughout Portugal. Curated by local artists and creatives, the 60-room property combines beautifully-designed accommodations with co-work facilities, wellness, and cultural programming driven by local art, food, design and music. Selina’s communal spaces are designed to bring the local community together with travellers from all over the world, with live concerts, art exhibitions, thematic dinners, DJ performances and more on the agenda. A second Selina property is scheduled to open in Porto by the end of 2020, with hotels also planned for Lisbon and Algarve.
Savoy Palace, Madeira
On the site of the former Savoy Hotel, just a short, scenic walk from the heart of Funchal’s charming Old Town, this much-anticipated property is set to open its doors in June. Designed by the award-winning team of RH+ and interior designer Nini Andrade Silva, the bold, curved structure is home to chic guestrooms, all crafted with high-end materials and featuring balconies boasting ocean views. The luxury property will also feature a rooftop lounge, terraced gardens, multiple pools, an array of stylish restaurants and bars, spa with hydrotherapy facilities, game rooms, a tea house, and event space with maximum capacity for 900 people.
