OrangeDoor announces merger with US agency Unbridled 900 600 micebook.

UK-based creative events and exhibitions agency OrangeDoor has merged with US experience agency Unbridled, creating a combined powerhouse of 234 employees across six offices.

The companies said the partnership unites shared values, complementary strengths, and a bold vision for their clients and teams.

Together, the agencies delivered 487 events across 28 countries in the past year, and the merger will see them scale their sector expertise and collaborate on international project delivery. Both bring different sector capabilities – Unbridled has significant experience in healthcare, food & drink and restaurants, while OrangeDoor has built a strong reputation in tech, finance and HR.

Elizabeth Heron, CEO and founder, described the deal as a “merger of mindsets”. Speaking exclusively to micebook, she revealed that OrangeDoor had been exploring several merger and acquisition opportunities before this deal came about.

“To realise OrangeDoor’s full potential, we knew we needed expansion, and critically, a footprint in the US. Trying to do that organically is challenging, which is why we were exploring M&A options. This merger has given us five offices in the US, including Unbridled’s HQ in Denver, as well as Boston and San Diego. We have scaled overnight.”

How the deal came about

The deal stemmed from a long-standing professional relationship and mutual respect. Stan Bullis, founder and president of Unbridled, worked with OrangeDoor’s Andrew Winterburn some years ago on a shared healthcare client. A chance meeting between Andrew and one of Stan’s team led to initial conversations, and it quickly became clear that both businesses shared similar values, ambition and belief in people.

“It’s like when you are house hunting and find the house you want to buy – you know straight away. The moment we began speaking with Unbridled, it was obvious we had extraordinary synergies. Our creative strengths matched. Our values matched. And our teams matched. It was immediate,” she said.

“I’ve never been so welcomed into an organisation. I walked in and felt instantly at ease. The cultural alignment is extraordinary – you could lay our values on top of each other, and they are almost identical.”

The deal structure, she emphasises, is a partnership rather than a takeover, with shared leadership and decision-making. OrangeDoor will maintain its identity and branding and be known as OrangeDoor, an Unbridled company.

Expanded capabilities

In addition to a US footprint, the partnership provides OrangeDoor with access to an extensive creative department headed by the former Creative Director of Cirque du Soleil, a large media/motion graphics team and Unbridled’s robust event tech stack.

OrangeDoor brings strengths in exhibitions and tech-sector expertise, and becomes the European HQ for Unbridled. The teams have already co-delivered events, including a project in New England using Unbridled’s Boston office.

Stan Bullis, founder and president of Unbridled, said: “For 25 years, our companies operated across the Atlantic as kindred spirits, yet as separate commercial entities. This merger grew out of a long-standing professional relationship and mutual respect.

“After meeting with Elizabeth, it became clear that, despite being thousands of miles apart, we share a parallel outlook on values, ambition, and belief in people. Our new partnership reflects a common belief Elizabeth and I share – that our work and events can be a catalyst for positive change.”

Business as a force for good

While OrangeDoor is already B Corp certified, the merger introduces a new dynamic through Unbridled’s 20/20/60 model: 20% of net income is donated to charity, another 20% is retained to ensure long-term financial stability, and 60% is distributed to shareholders.

The model resonated strongly with OrangeDoor’s existing B Corp ethos, and Heron didn’t hesitate to adopt it. “It was never up for conversation. I straight away said absolutely. We are putting our money where our mouths are. Our success will be measured not just in financial terms, but in team engagement, client satisfaction, expanded service offerings and, most importantly, the good we can bring.”

She described Bullis as “the most philanthropic person I have ever met,” citing his regeneration project in Cañon City, Colorado, where Unbridled restored a derelict hotel, raised local wages and re-energised the town’s economy.

The integration will benefit both teams with opportunities to work across regions, plus coaching and development to help individuals grow their careers and build new skills as the company expands its global footprint. The newly merged company is already exploring expansion across Europe and intends to grow in the Middle East, Asia and Australia.

Heron believes this moment represents the realisation of OrangeDoor’s long-held aspirations: “I am going to realise what OrangeDoor has always been trying to be by this merger. We are suspending our disbelief and imagining ‘what if’. And now the ‘what if’ is backed up by a big company that can make it happen.”
