Dubai is the master of reinvention, and with hotel investment and construction in the destination showing no signs of slowing any time soon – there is always somewhere new to discover. We check out three of the hottest hotel openings scheduled before the end of this year…
Mandarin Oriental Jumeira
Mandarin Oriental Jumeira, Dubai promises to bring a new wave of luxury to the shores of Dubai when it opens in the fourth quarter of 2018. Overlooking both the pristine waters of the Arabian Gulf and Dubai’s glittering skyline, with an enviable Jumeirah Beach setting, the property will offer 256 rooms and eight luxury over-water villas with warm inviting interiors designed by Jeffrey Wilkes. From atmospheric poolside dining to an unforgettable end-of-jetty experience, the eight restaurants and lounges will include Tasca, the signature Portuguese restaurant, and Japanese Warayaki dining. Event planners can choose from a 700 sqm glass-walled ballroom featuring a beachfront terrace and six elegantly appointed meeting spaces. Once complete, the resort will also feature a gym, 2,800-square-metre spa, dedicated beach club, and infinity pools surrounded by landscaped gardens.
Stella Di Mare Dubai Marina Hotel
The five-star Stella Di Mare will be the first international location for the brand, which already has six resorts in Egypt, when it opens this year. Decorated in Art Deco style, the 396 rooms are spread across 31 floors and a choice of meeting spaces will include a 500sqm banquet hall. The hotel bars will include the lobby lounge, Orphic Bar, providing tasty snacks and Italian coffee, the pool bar providing daily refreshments and Skyland – one of the few rooftop bars in Dubai – located on the 31st floor with spectacular views of Dubai Marina. Triton restaurant offers fusion and Mediterranean food; LeoVinci offers Italian food with a unique twist, and La Fontana will serve up an international buffet. The 550 sqm spa will offer a variety of treatments including massages, facials and beauty therapies, with facilities including steam rooms, indoor Jacuzzis and an outdoor swimming pool.
W Dubai – The Palm
The second W in Dubai (right and above) is set to open in October on the West Crescent of the Palm Jumeirah islands and will feature 350 rooms and suites with views of the Dubai skyline and the Arabian Gulf. A bright and bold interior design will combine state-of-the-art amenities and playful touches that are synonymous with the W brand. Guests will be able to relax in the AWAY Spa, chill out on the SoBe rooftop, indulge in some fine dining at Torno Subito and Akira Back, and kick back on the crystalline sands of the private beach. With playful, witty décor inspired by the Riviera of the 1960s, Torno Subito is Massimo Bottura’s first restaurant outside Italy. Meanwhile Sobe – a vibrant rooftop lounge has been inspired by Art Deco architecture, Art Basel, Miami Carnival, indulgent parties and the cuisine and music of Latino culture. Eight meeting rooms include the 1,215sqm Great Room, while fashion shows, concerts, beachside gatherings and other outdoor functions can be staged around the property.
