With the Tokyo Olympic Games completed, attention turns to the next host city of Paris, which will welcome the Games in 2024.
And, with UK government restrictions on travel to France finally easing – it’s now on the amber list which means fully-vaccinated travellers do not have to quarantine on return – it’s the perfect time to check out what’s new in the French capital.
So, we look at four hot new properties opening their doors in the City of Lights this year…
Canopy by Hilton Paris Trocadero
Hilton’s lifestyle brand made its debut in France in May with the opening of this 123-room property overlooking the Parisian skyline with views of the Eiffel Tower. Located in the iconic 16th arrondissement, the property draws inspiration from Trocadero’s rich history and incorporates design touches from the industrial past of the 1930s building.
Planners have the choice of four flexible meeting and event spaces that can host corporate meetings, large cocktail receptions and intimate social events. Restaurant L’Esprit Nouveau, focuses on seasonality and classic French dishes, while cocktails are served at the rooftop bar (pictured above), along with daily tastings of drinks from local breweries, distilleries, and wineries.
Kimpton St Honoré Paris
Officially opening on 23 August, Kimpton St Honoré Paris will breathe new life into a heritage building which once housed the much-loved luxury department store “Samaritaine de Luxe”. Located on the Boulevard des Capucines in Paris’ Opéra district, the hotel will offer 149 stylish rooms, an indoor swimming pool, gym, and a Spa with luxury treatment rooms.
There are a variety of event spaces, including a pillarless grand ballroom, which has its own reception area and an impressive LED wall. The light-filled ground-floor will feature a Californian-inspired restaurant and bar designed by Humbert & Poyet, while on the tenth-floor rooftop, a terrace bar with 360-degree views of the city will welcome guests for unique cocktails and bites.
Bvlgari Paris
This super luxurious addition to the Paris hotel scene is finally expected to open its doors this summer. Originally due to open in 2020, Bvlgari Paris is located on the exclusive Avenue George V.
Its 76 rooms will predominantly be suites, and it will also feature a spa and 25-metre pool, while its restaurant and bar will open out onto a courtyard garden – perfect for a relaxed end of evening cocktail.
Cheval Blanc Paris
LVMH will open the much anticipated Cheval Blanc Paris on 7 September. Set on the edge of the Seine near the Louvre and Notre-Dame, this Art Déco inspired property is a showcase to French craftsmanship with incredible marble and metal works, plus vintage treasures, and art throughout the spaces.
The 72 rooms and suites boast panoramic floor-to-ceiling windows with bespoke furniture, with some also offering winter gardens or balconies, beautifully appointed living rooms and dressing rooms. The gastronomic restaurant led by chef Arnaud Donckele features the most memorable dishes in an enviable location with striking views, while the Dior Spa offers a collection of exclusive rituals specially developed for the property.
