We are delighted to reveal that Kymberley Charlett has been chosen as the winner of our Disrupt the V Awards competition. We are also thrilled to announce CastleBell Recruitment as our official sponsor for the initiative.
Disrupt the V Awards is a competition launched by micebook during a time of uncertainty amongst many graduates and event industry new hires. The aim was to create an exciting opportunity for event graduates and newcomers to showcase their creative skills and get recognition in a room full of big agency brands and companies.
“Nothing is more important than discovering and nurturing the future talent of our industry. At Castlebell, one of our key motivations is to help shine a light on that talent, which is why we are so excited to partner with micebook and sponsor the Disrupt the V Awards,” said CastleBell maAndrew Bell.
The competition gave participants the opportunity to plan an aspect of the V Awards, which could ‘disrupt’ the normal awards ceremony format. Our panel of professional judges including Emma Stoker, VP Relationship Manager, Barclays and Cheerful Twentyfirst Creative Producer Elena Clowes, alongside representatives from universities and industry associations, then shortlisted the initial entries and finalists were invited to present their idea (virtually) to the panel.
Kym was selected as the winner from the final four, with a creative concept designed to transport attendees back to a simpler time. More details of the concept will be outlined as part of the Disrupt teaser campaign as we approach awards night, which will be one of the first LIVE industry awards nights post-pandemic.
“Ever since I graduated from university, I’ve been keen to pursue a career in events management. However, due to the pandemic, I’ve found there are limited opportunities for industry newcomers. I saw an advert for the competition and knew it would be fantastic to work alongside and learn from industry professionals, gaining valuable experience and connections. I liked that I could get creative with my entry and hopefully add a fresh twist as a newcomer,” said Kym.
“It still doesn’t feel real that I won the competition. I am so grateful to have been given this opportunity by micebook. I can’t wait to give my all to this project and make it a fantastic night. It’s going to be a good one, you won’t want to miss it.”
Jessica Charles, Event Director at micebook added: “We have been overwhelmed by the quality of entries with the Disrupt the V Awards competition and I would have loved to work with all of the finalists, who did a phenomenal job of showing creativity and real thought behind their ideas. We felt Kym’s concept fit perfectly with what micebook is looking to achieve with the V Awards and we are excited to work with Kym on making her vision a reality, at the live awards ceremony on the 3 September 2021.”
