Ardent micebook supporter Belmond recently announced a stunning revamp of one their beautiful Asian properties in Cambodia.
An intimate retreat on the banks of a tree-lined river, Belmond La Résidence d’Angkor beautifully captures the region’s rich history while offering every modern luxury. With a reputation for excellence among Siem Reap hotels, guests can anticipate an authentic Cambodian experience at this centrally-located hotel. The inviting architecture showcases traditional Khmer style. Elegant teak and basalt accents echo the ancient temples nearby.
The new accommodations include a Deluxe Poolside Suite with a large alfresco terrace offering views across the tropical gardens and saltwater swimming pool; 20 Poolside Junior Suites, 12 Garden Junior Suites, 8 Deluxe Studio Suites and 18 Junior Suites. Interior designs by leading international designers and architects, GA Design and Beyond Design, feature locally handwoven jewel-coloured silks, traditionally crafted hard wood furnishings and detailed ironmongery created by local artisans.
A new meeting room that is flooded with natural light, inviting the outside in, is an inspirational space for meetings and events with capacity for 22 to 90 people, from boardroom to theatre-style set up.
Featuring a new outdoor dining space and water feature, the hotel’s fine dining restaurant will reopen as Spice Circle, serving traditional Cambodian and Khmer cuisine and pop-up tuk tuk food displays; Ember restaurant highlights the chef’s culinary skills with a new show kitchen and pizza oven; guests can dine on organic Asian food with a Latin twist in an outdoor dining space and the hotel’s bar, Martini Lounge, offers a tempting new selection of creative cocktails served with fresh tapas that can be enjoyed whilst overlooking the hotel’s verdant plants and trees.
The hotel’s gardens have been freshly landscaped to create a sense of tranquillity within the bustling city. Surrounded by tropical walled gardens, the landscaped designs are inspired by the central Khmer style Siraphorn statue.
An art collection, specially curated by south east Asian art specialist, Roger Nelson, is displayed throughout the hotel connecting guests with ancient and modern Cambodian culture. Nelson has also curated a bespoke book collection in the hotel’s new library. In early 2017, new guest experiences will be introduced that will take guest to the Angkor Wat temples as well as featuring immersive culinary and cultural activities.
Belmond La Résidence d’Angkor sits in the midst of tranquil villages and centuries old jungle in the heart of Siem Reap. Located less than ten minutes from the Angkor Wat temple complex, the hotel is the ideal base for exploring the ancient historical sites as well as connecting with emerging Cambodian cultures and enjoying a secluded retreat in which to relax and switch off from the everyday.
