This week, we head to the quintessential English seaside resort of Brighton to explore what’s available for #eventprofs. Just an hour from London by train, there’s more to Brighton than ice cream and candyfloss. The destination boasts an impressive hotel and venue portfolio, so we check out six of the best…

Hotels

Hilton Brighton Metropole
Situated in a prime position on the seafront, The Hilton Brighton Metropole is the largest residential conference centre in the South, accommodating a range of events from one-to-one management meetings to international conventions. Built in 1890, the hotel retains its Victorian elegance and tradition, whilst offering all of the modern comforts required by today’s business traveller. There are 35 event spaces and seven exhibition halls to choose from, plus 340 guest rooms.

The Grand
Also located on the seafront, just a stone’s throw from Brighton beach, The Grand Brighton boasts 13 event spaces, including the city’s largest sea facing conference suite, The Empress Suite, accommodating up to 900. The Albert Room’s exceptionally high ceilings are dotted with ornate chandeliers making for an impressively flexible backdrop; whilst a section of striking meeting spaces are available for small conferences, syndicate areas, private dinners, board meetings and team building. Built in 1864, The Grand Brighton is an iconic property, with 201 guest rooms stretching over seven floors, set around a dramatic sweeping staircase.

Hotel Pelirocco
Smaller groups after something completely different should check out Hotel Pelirocco, ideal for inspiring away-days. With 19 bedrooms themed around pop sub-cultures and maverick musicians – from David Bowie to Dolly Parton – the quirky property can host small groups for small creative meetings. When the working day is over and you’re looking to indulge in some staff bonding: compete with your colleagues with one of the hotel’s cocktail classes or kick back with some karaoke.

Unique venues

British Airways i360
Glide up to 138m to enjoy breath-taking 360o views in this futuristic glass viewing pod, conceived and designed by Marks Barfield Architects, creators of the London Eye. The giant glass viewing pod can be hired exclusively for receptions for up to 175 people. The pod is available to book day or night for exclusive rides both during public opening hours, or out of hours. At the base of the tower is a beach building encompassing stunning event rooms, all set in a fantastic beach-side setting with sea views and opening up to a private beach-side terraces.

Pier Nine
Event planners are spoilt for choice at this 24/7 venue, with a range of activities to choose from including Shuffleboard, eDarts, Digipool and American Pool. It doesn’t stop there, this inclusive and exclusive social space also boasts four tasty menus, retro arcade machines, two poker tables, a private karaoke booth, a Dice Ball table, casino tables plus live entertainment centre stage.

The Yellowave Clubhouse
This beachside venue offers an open, light and airy space to hire. The single storey, wood clad building has uninterrupted sea views. Floor to ceiling windows open up onto an outside deck overlooking the Yellowave beach volleyball courts. The beach feel provides a unique place to host a meeting, run a seminar or host a team building day. Various seating options including: ‘Fatboy’ bean bags, large board table set up, break out tables and seminar seating for groups of up to 50.
