Travellers to Washington DC – either seasoned or first-time visitors like Madame Micebook – will be delighted with the latest accommodation addition to this historic city.
Riggs marks the US debut for the group and will be set in the vibrant Penn Quarter neighbourhood, taking its name from the historic building in which it resides.
Once home to Riggs National Bank, known as the ‘Bank of the Presidents’ the building is located close to the National Portrait Gallery and the Capital One Arena and features 181 beautifully furnished rooms, including 15 individually appointed suites with vault-inspired minibars, decadent fabrics and marble bathrooms.
Madame Micebook will be ready to max her credit card out on the two-bedroom Riggs Suite, set in the original bank boardroom. As dusk falls, she’ll make her way to Café Riggs, modelled on a grand European brasserie with its ornate ceiling and original columns, before settling in for the night at Silver Lyan, an underground cocktail bar designed by London’s Mister Lyan himself.
Event planners are well served too – the rooftop space with panoramic views over the city can accommodate 250, the boardroom seats 12 and two private dining rooms can host receptions for up to 42.
