Located at the south end of the Baja California Peninsula, Los Cabos boasts a unique combination of desert landscapes, beaches and mountains that are a sight to behold and provide the backdrop to a growing number of high-end luxury retreats. We check out four hot new hotel openings that have caught our eye…
Drawing inspiration from Malibu Ryokan, the property’s west coast cousin, Nobu Hotel Los Cabos is raising the bar on lifestyle luxury in one of Mexico’s hottest travel spots. The newly opened resort blends laid-back Mexican chic with minimalistic Japanese sophistication on the southern tip of Mexico’s Baja California Peninsula. The brand’s first outpost in Mexico features 200 rooms, four swimming pools, a stunning beachfront location, a luxurious spa, nearby championship golf course and, of course, a Nobu restaurant.
Set along the dramatic coastline of San José del Cabo with panoramic views of the Sea of Cortez, Zadún, A Ritz Carlton Reserve will make its debut in Autumn 2019. The fourth property in the prestigious Ritz-Carlton Reserve portfolio will feature a striking design inspired by the surrounding desert and sea and 115 elegantly appointed suites and villas, each with a personal butler and many with a private plunge pool. The Reserve also features two ocean view pools, a spa, a number of bars and restaurants, a collection of Ritz-Carlton Reserve Residences, two championship golf courses and a botanical park with the desert flora.
Four Seasons will bring its own brand of luxury to Los Cabos this November with a 141-room property set against the majestic backdrop of the Sierra de la Laguna Mountains on the East Cape of the Baja California Peninsula. The extensive grounds will offer five dining options, 18 acres (7 hectares) of organic farm and orchards; a spa and wellness centre; four expansive pools; a Robert Trent Jones II 18-hole golf course; unique event space; and a sports complex that includes tennis, volleyball, basketball and fitness facilities. Four Seasons Resort Los Cabos at Costa Palmas is also the first-ever Four Seasons with a private marina making sunset sails or sport fishing expeditions easily accessible.
Joining Four Seasons in the 1,000-acre beachfront community of Costas Palmas, Aman is preparing to make its Mexican debut with Amanvari. Scheduled to open in 2020, the hotel and residences will feature an eye-catching design that blends in with the surrounding landscape, keeping in line with Aman’s unique design style. Amanvari will rest on slender, stilted structures and will have a main pavilion with an open-air atrium that will serve as the centre of the resort. Amenities will include three restaurants, a library and lounge and a 323-foot infinity-edge pool with four hot tubs, and the Aman Spa pavilion.
