Dubai, along with the rest of the UAE, was moved to the UK government’s amber list on 8 August, meaning double-jabbed travellers are no longer required to quarantine on their return.

It comes as Dubai gears up to host the World Expo – a year after it was originally supposed to be held. The event will now run from 1 October to 31 March 2022.

If you’re planning a trip or event in Dubai to tie in with the Expo, here are four exciting new properties worth checking out…

The Dubai EDITION

The debut of The Dubai EDITION in late 2021 will mark a significant expansion for the brand into the popular incentive travel destination. Situated in downtown Dubai, the hotel is in one of the city’s most popular locations, opposite the world-famous Dubai Mall.

Designed with LW Design Group LLC, the hotel will feature 275 rooms and suites. The property will also be home to multiple food and beverage outlets, pool, spa, and fitness centre, in addition to dynamic events spaces boasting meeting rooms and a flexible ballroom.

The St. Regis Dubai, The Palm

This glamorous new hotel on The Palm opened in May and occupies the first 18 floors of The Palm Tower, a 52-story landmark development connected to the Nakheel Mall which offers world class shopping, a variety of culinary venues and entertainment options. The 264 luxury rooms and 26 elegant suites offer expansive views of Palm Jumeirah, the Arabian Gulf, and the Dubai skyline through floor-to-ceiling windows.

From intimate events to lavish celebrations and business gatherings alike, the hotel offers planners choice and flexibility with its six multi-purpose meeting rooms all equipped with state-of-the-art technology and The Astor Ballroom for up to 500. The hotel, which also offers a diverse selection of restaurants, bars and lounges and a luxury spa, is steps away from soft sandy beaches and the soon-to-open St. Regis Beach Club.

Royal Atlantis Resort & Residences, The Palm

Sister property to Atlantis, The Palm and located next to it, this plush new property’s open date is yet to be confirmed, but it’s slated to open in late 2021. The new hotel will offer 795 guest rooms, including 693 ocean and palm rooms, 96 suites and six signature suites.

A sky-high infinity Sky Pool that will stretch 90 metres in length and soar to 96 metres above The Palm, on the property’s 22nd floor, will boast views of the iconic Dubai city skyline from one side and the Arabian Gulf on the other. Other features include a 3,000 square-metre wellness centre, spa, 17 retail outlets and 13 restaurants and bars including Dinner by Heston Blumenthal, offering contemporary dishes inspired by historic gastronomic recipes dating back to the 1300’s. The lobby bar will be home to the largest jellyfish tank in the world, housing approximately 2,000 jellyfish and three additional aquariums.

Mandarin Oriental Wasl Tower

The second Mandarin Oriental hotel to arrive in Dubai will feature a total of 257 rooms, suites, and serviced apartments with views over downtown Dubai and the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa.

Due to open this December, the property is located within the 63-storey twisting Wasl Tower (main image). Facilities will include a rooftop sky bar, signature dining experience, all-day dining restaurant, poolside bar and restaurant, lobby lounge, cigar room, Mandarin oriental Cake Shop, and extensive banqueting and meeting spaces. The hotel will also offer a two-floor spa, with 12 treatment rooms, fitness centre, vitality pools, “heat and water therapies”, and an outdoor pool within a landscaped garden terrace.
