Barcelona is no stranger to bold design, vibrant culture, and a touch of the flamboyant, but the SLS Barcelona is taking it to the next level. Making a spectacular European debut, SLS Hotels & Residences has unveiled its newest urban resort in the Port Fòrum district, which opened its doors on April 1st, 2025. Positioned right on the seafront, this 471-room hotel promises not just a stay, but a fully immersive experience that effortlessly blends coast and city

The hotel’s location is ideal, just far enough from the central crowds to feel like a retreat, yet close enough to easily dip into the city’s buzzing culture. It’s also right next to Parc del Fòrum, home of the legendary Primavera Sound festival, for which SLS serves as the official hotel partner.

The hotel’s architecture immediately makes a statement with a wave-inspired undulating façade, designed to echo the Mediterranean it overlooks. Inside, a trio of designers, AIME Studios, AvroKO, and Rockwell Group, have created an aesthetic that leaves a lasting impression. Each room and suite offers a private balcony or terrace, many with sweeping views across the marina and sea. Room types range from the stylishly named Delight and Captivate guestrooms to suites like the Celestial Suite, which features its own 97-square-metre rooftop terrace for the ultimate private spot to go stargazing.

True to SLS style, gastronomy takes a front and centre seat here. The hotel features six food and beverage concepts, each with its own unique flair. Lora, the all-day restaurant, draws from the rustic charm of Mediterranean coastal towns with charred flatbreads, fresh seafood, and slow-cooked meats cooked over wood and coal. For casual bites, L’Anxova Divina offers tapas on the terrace, inspired by Gaudí and infused with Catalan creativity. Deluxe evolves from coffee house to cocktail lounge as the day unfolds.

Later in 2025, things get even more exciting with the arrival of Kyara, a postmodern cocktail lab exploring mixology as an art form, and Cósmico, a rooftop pool bar and club designed for day-to-night lounging under the Barcelona sun. A subterranean spa will also open later in the year, but guests can still indulge in some sellf care, with a visit to the on-site fitness centre and spin studio.

Event profs will be thrilled to know that SLS Barcelona has it covered with style and scale. The 770-square-metre Gala Ballroom, adorned with textured red walls and dramatic lanterns, can host up to 600 guests. It also offers eight flexible meeting rooms and two spacious foyers, so it’s easy to see why this urban resort is already turning heads for both business and leisure.
