This week, we shine the spotlight on the gorgeous Vintry & mercer, host venue for our recent nineteen agency leaders’ dinner in partnership with Oman Convention Bureau (see photos here).
The lowdown
This boutique hidden gem is in the heart of London’s city among the livery halls, guilds and narrow streets that line the banks of the Thames, just a stone’s throw from St Paul’s Cathedral. The property offers 92 bespoke and stylish rooms and suites.
Design inspiration comes from the historic trading guilds of the area – Vintry was the centre for London wine merchants; Mercer was for noble textile sellers who specialised in fine silks and damasks. Think plush velvet curtains and headboards, bespoke fabrics, leather door handles and palm leaf wall coverings, alongside modern luxuries, from Nespresso machines to Marshall speakers.
Food & drink
At Vintry & Mercer, dining is as much a part of the experience as the overnight stay. Options include Vintry Kitchen, a relaxed café & wine bar on the ground floor serving breakfast, which is also a lovely backdrop for private group dinners, and the stunning Mercer Roof Terrace.
The view from Mercer Roof Terrace takes in London’s skyline, from the dome of St Paul’s Cathedral to the glass tip of The Shard, while the menu celebrates the best of British cooking, using sustainably sourced meat and fish from the British Isles.
DND (Do Not Disturb) is a basement bar, serving authentic vintage cocktails tucked away in the basement. The mood is one of retro glamour and sophistication, reflecting the clandestine bars of 1920s New York with hand-beaded images of Ziegfeld Follies girls lining the walls.
Groups, meetings & events
The restaurants and bars are all available for groups and private Hire – DND can accommodate up to 100 people standing and Vintry Kitchen can accommodate up to 54 people seated or 100 people standing.
Meetings and event spaces can also be hired alongside DND to accommodate up to 150 people standing or with Vintry Kitchen up to 250 people across the lower ground and ground floors of the hotel. Mercer Roof Terrace can be hired exclusively for breakfast meetings of up to 36 people until 10am and is also available for private hire on request.
There are three meeting rooms on the lower ground floor. The largest of the spaces, The Library reflects London’s history as a trading entrepôt, with the ceiling decked in an enormous vintage trading map taken from old travel books. With a capacity for 32 seated and up to 35 standing, it can be hired for private use, offering an informal setting for working lunches, laidback dinners or business meetings.
The Drawing Room suits smaller meetings and private lunches or dinners, accommodating 10 seated and up to 25 standing. The Drawing Room can be interconnected with The Library for larger dinners or drinks parties, as well as daytime meetings.
And finally, The Music Room is an intimate stylish space seating up to 10 people for meetings and private dining. Features include eclectic teal blue wall panels, a boardroom table influenced by Isambard Brunel’s famous engineering, bespoke carpet inspired by the British Regimental tiles and colourful, iconic British album covers on the walls.
