Would you describe yourself as a Green Champion? Are you committed to driving sustainable change within your organisation or the wider events industry? If so, we want to hear from you!
To mark Earth Day this week (22 April), we are thrilled to announce that micebook is partnering with industry sustainability body isla to create the Power 50 Green Champions – the first industry initiative dedicated to shining the spotlight on individuals within the UK events industry who are devoting their time, passion and energy to making a positive impact on the planet.
Free to enter and open to anyone working in the UK events industry from corporates and agencies to venues and suppliers, Power 50 Green Champions will celebrate the success stories of individuals who are really making a difference in the journey to Net Zero.
You could be someone in the early stages of your career that has implemented a green initiative within your company, an event planner that created a stand-out sustainable event, a sustainability manager at a venue that has made serious strides in reducing carbon emissions or an MD or CEO who has spearheaded transformative environmental practices at a company level.
By celebrating the changemaking achievements of 50 individuals across the industry, at all stages of their careers, we hope to share best practice and inspire others to make positive change. Entries will be judged by a panel of sustainability experts both within and outside the sector, with the final Power 50 announced at a special event in October and featured in a special digital publication.
Judges confirmed include Christianne Beck, founder and event sustainability consultant at Worlds Better, Selina Donald, founder of The Bulb – Sustainability Consultancy for the Event and Creative Industry, Matt Grey, director, event:decision, which helps planners measure event sustainability, and Steve Lister, Sustainability Consultant to Global Brands & Retailers RETHINK Retail.
Chetan Shah, micebook founder and CEO said: “There is a lot of talk around this topic but there are some individuals who are really walking the walk and deserve to be celebrated. Those chosen to be part of our Power 50 will have shone through for their efforts in driving positive change, and we look forward to celebrating their achievements at the launch in October, providing inspiration for others on what can be achieved at any level and in any organisation.”
Toni Griggs, growth lead at isla, said: “The events industry is filled with proactive individuals who are bridging the gap between intention and action on environmental issues. Power 50 Green Champions is an amazing opportunity to recognise these important strides for the planet.”
