We will be working closely with EventDecision to measure and mitigate carbon emissions at both events using its TRACK measurement tool. TRACK offers insights and support for planners designing carbon-neutral events; and those aiming to mitigate emissions.
EventDecision was set up by Matt Grey, who has worked in senior roles at several event agencies including INVNT and Grass Roots, last May to provide data and insights to help planners make better event decisions.
Chris McQue, Expedition Lead – micebook Ventures, said: “At micebook ventures, we’re not ticking CSR boxes, we’re going Beyond Net-Zero and our partnership with EventDecision is incredibly important in communicating true priorities for Mother Earth to a sector that is not moving quickly or responsibly enough.
“Offsetting has its place but only after systemic reduction; meaning that destination and travel recommendations, venue selection, programme design and operational delivery all need an SDG-focused, green revolution if we are to continue giving value to major brands. Signing a carbon offsetting cheque is all too easy – the season is coming to a close and we need to play to win, not just to avoid losing.”
EventDecision director Matt Grey added: “Partnership with micebook means a great deal to the team at EventDecision. There’s a new breed of event communities available to planners and bookers, with micebook at the head. In measuring the carbon-footprint of their own events, both pre- and post-event, micebook are demonstrating best practice and showing their community how we should all be behaving. It’s easy to commit to measuring a sustainably-focussed event like Ventures22, but hats off to micebook for committing across the whole programme of events, including the fantastic V Awards this summer. EventDecision is delighted to be supporting micebook with TRACK carbon measurement and mitigation.”
EventDecision is one of several strategic delivery partners for Ventures, alongside others including Marketing Liverpool and Open Audience.
