The four-star Maldron Hotel has opened its doors in Glasgow, located on the site of the former STV headquarters in the heart of the city’s shopping, restaurant and theatre district.
The £40m property represents the first hotel in Scotland for Dalata Hotel Group, the largest hotel group in Ireland, with a growing presence in the UK.
It features 300 rooms, a bar and restaurant, resident’s gym, and state-of-the-art business facilities. The hotel is also highly tech-enabled with chromecast in each bedroom, digital check-in and a virtual guest services platform.
The hotel has also invested in interactive Clevertouch technology in all meeting facilities, alongside Clickshare wireless connectivity, enabling ease of streaming for virtual meeting integration.
Maldron Hotel Glasgow City holds the ‘We’re Good to Go’ industry standard, demonstrating a commitment to comply with all Covid-19 safety guidelines.
Dalata already operates over 45 hotels across the UK and Ireland, but today’s opening of Maldron Hotel Glasgow City is its first in Scotland. In 2022 the Group will strengthen its presence in Glasgow with the opening of a four-star Clayton Hotel on Customs Quay.
Aligned to Dalata’s Green Tourism programme the hotel has been built to a BREEAM sustainability assessment of ‘Very Good’ standard and has new technologies such as Air Source Heat Pumps and Heat Exchangers to reduce carbon emissions.
The UK will host the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) in Glasgow on 31 October – 12 November 2021 with delegates to the summit expected to stay at the hotel.
