We’re pleased to announce a new initiative on micebook to support the many freelancers in the events industry that have been impacted by the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic.
Freelance event professionals can now load a free profile on micebook.com where they can add their experience, skills, role types and languages.
Chetan Shah, micebook founder, said: “The events industry was one of the first to be hit by Covid-19 and will be one of the last to recover. Freelancers within the sector are among those who have been impacted the most, with contracts terminated immediately as events cancelled left right and centre. We wanted to find a way to support the freelancers at this time and so we have introduced a freelance sector on micebook.”
Freelancers can upload a CV, images, and video to their profile and link with other freelancers in their network.
Planners can search for freelancers based on event type, experience needed, contract type and languages. They can also, like with any micebook supplier, add notes, and pin the freelancers to Boards for them and their teams to find when they need this resource.
Shah added: “Sadly there is likely to be a new pool of freelancers as the unfortunate inevitability of redundancies occurs following the end of the government furlough support scheme. But we hope that this will allow freelancers to find work quickly once the industry starts to recover, and for planners to be able to manage their pool of freelance talent in one central hub.”
We are running a workshop for freelancers and for planners on how to get the best from the functionality on Thursday 28th May at 3pm BST. Details are here
The freelance functionality is among a number of initiatives micebook has set up to support our #eventprofs community of buyers and suppliers since the the Covid-19 outbreak. This includes a series of weekly “talks” on practical topics to share best-practice and navigate through the challenges caused by Covid-19, plus a range of Upskill workshops.
