As a regal row throws the spotlight firmly on Canada with the Duke and Duchess reportedly planning a move there, Mister Micebook heads to Toronto to find out what’s new for event planners considering the city…
With its tall towers, ice hockey, diverse cuisines and slick hotels, Toronto’s appeal is clear for Mister Micebook to see. And his enthusiasm for the city is matched by a multitude of the most luxury hospitality groups, including Ace Hotels, which will open its first Canadian property (right) in the city this autumn, preceded by Toronto’s first W Hotel, which launches this summer in Yorkville with an onsite recording studio to welcome the cool kids.
The Park Hyatt Toronto is reopening in October after two years of renovations, offering 220 rooms and totally refurbished function spaces rooms, a spa and roof lounge.
But Mister Micebook isn’t heading over to Canada for one long site inspection – 2020 will also see the launch of a raft of new experiences opening including Toronto Zoo’s new Terra Lumina night walk experience plus stage debuts from the international hit musical Hamilton and the popular Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
But no trip is ever complete without at least one hard hat tour – Mister Micebook will be meeting his friends from SBE, who will mark the global expansion of their Hudson brand with the launch of Hudson Toronto, a 146-room property set to debut in 2024.
