From super slick hotel hangouts to traditional speakeasies, the drinking scene in Buenos Aires offers a plethora choice for the pickiest of drinkers.
And cocktail culture will be coming in to the fore this week as Madame micebook and her pals fly in for a taste of Latin America’s finest tipples served up in the build up to World Cocktail Day on the 14th May.
From the 4th through to the 11th, across the city, bars will be hosting cocktail-inspired activities, tastings and masterclasses as bartenders create their own interpretations on classic cocktails. First stop in the Argentinian capital for Madame micebook is the cosy Be Jardin Escondido by Coppola, where the iconic filmmaker resided while shooting Tetro.
This tiny gem of a property boasts just seven rooms, making it a proper bucket-list trip if you can squeeze in a reservation among the hordes of film fans eager to explore and taste wines selected from Coppola’s own vineyard in Mendoza.
For a more glamorous backdrop the famed El Presidente is hard to beat. Enter this cocktail bar and be transported back in time to days of former glamour, where the glitterati would gather in underground drinking dens.
Of course, Madame micebook, an international luxury traveller, will be saving her last drink for the Palacio Duhau, also known as the Park Hyatt Buenos Aires, and a glass of something sparkly at the legendary Oak Bar.
