Incentive favourite South Africa is set to welcome three hot new hotel properties over the next couple of months, from a downtown design boutique to a luxurious safari lodge and a stunning beachfront retreat…

Gorgeous George
Cape Town’s hottest, or should we say most gorgeous, new kid on the block opens its doors this month, blending Victorian design elements with industrial tones such as raw, exposed concrete and steelwork. Located in the heart of downtown Cape Town, Gorgeous George is the first in property in the city to join the Design Hotels stable. Formed from two buildings that were connected in the 1940s – one Art Deco, the other New Edwardian – the hotel offers 32 rooms and suites, all of which afford city views. A colour palette of blues, whites and greens contrast with the hotel’s industrial undertones. The rooftop, meanwhile, with its welcoming terrace and pool, is a green oasis where one is surrounded by the sounds of the city. The hotel also features a first-floor event and art space, Gigi restaurant and rooftop bar.

Lekkerwater Beach Lodge at De Hoop
Also opening this month, a three-and-a-half-hour drive from Cape Town, in the eastern, most exclusive sector of De Hoop Nature Reserve, is Lekkerwater Beach Lodge at De Hoop. Lekkerwater itself (literally meaning ‘the place of good water’) offers a homely and comfortable beach experience in a magical setting. Each of the seven rooms are located right on a six-kilometre stretch of private beach, complete with stunning rock pools and fish life. Activities-wise, the lodge offers walks with experienced naturalists, an array of fynbos to be discovered, a plethora of marine life to be explored, and a rare vulture breeding colony to be spotted (and that’s without mentioning the whales!). The reserve is famous for some of the best whale watching on the planet when, from July to November, Southern Right whales and their offspring flock here in their hundreds from Antarctica.

The Farmstead, Thornybush Game Reserve
A brand-new ultra-luxury safari experience, located in an exclusive setting of its own in the wilderness of Royal Malewane, The Farmstead will open its doors this June. The property features a main lodge where breakfast lunch and dinner are served in an elegant restaurant area, with three luxury Farm Suites and the farmhouse, which can be taken over entirely for groups of up to 14. Offering dramatic views over the treetops of the Greater Kruger National Park, the lodge is adjacent to a watering hole where many species of African wildlife including elephants and antelope come to drink. Guests can enjoy a Big 5 safari with qualified guiding staff, followed by some pampering in the double spa treatment-room, which offers a choice of indulgent treatments. After dinner, guests can relax around the fire-pit on the spacious wooden deck and spend time watching the stars in the African sky.
