All eyes are on Hong Kong this March as the eagerly-awaited Rosewood Hong Kong finally opens its doors. We explore what the new ultra-luxury property has to offer eventprofs plus what else is new in the Pearl of the Orient…

Rosewood Hong Kong
Set to open on 17 March, this new ultra-luxury hotel is a dream for event planners, offering 3,200sqm of expansive meetings and event space. Groups can choose from 11 venues including the Grand Ballroom, accommodating up to 1,000 for a reception or 900 theatre-style, an outdoor lawn with stunning wraparound harbour views, a Junior Ballroom with pre-function area, as well as seven meeting rooms and the Hospitality Suite with private terrace. With a prime Victoria Harbour waterfront location at the former New World Centre in Tsim Sha Tsui, Rosewood Hong Kong occupies 27 floors of a multi-use tower owned by New World Development Company Limited. Views of the Hong Kong’s iconic harbour are showcased in over 80 percent of the 398 stylish rooms and suites. Rosewood Hong Kong will also feature the first urban outpost of Asaya, Rosewood’s signature wellness offering, and eight dining concepts including Chinese tea house Holt’s Café, refined regional Cantonese cuisine at The Legacy House, and creative cocktails at DarkSide.

The Murray Hong Kong
A former government headquarters tower, the 25-storey Murray Building, originally designed by architect Ron Phillips almost 50 years ago, was redesigned and re-born as The Murray by Foster+Partners last year. The contemporary urban sanctuary features 336 rooms and suites across 25 storeys and five dining destinations from rooftop restaurant and bar Popinjays to Guo Fu Lou, a high-end Cantonese eatery in a stand-alone pavilion. The hotel’s terraces around the arches, an architectural signature of the building also showcase views of the city, Hong Kong Park and Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Gardens. The Niccolo Room on the 25th floor can cater for banquets, weddings and conferences with a capacity to seat 240 guests or receptions for up to 350. Additionally, there are seven smaller boardrooms all featuring natural light.

Hotel VIC on the Harbour
Opened last summer, this newly-built twin-tower hotel features 665 rooms and suites, all boasting panoramic views of the harbour and the city and the latest tech. Hotel VIC claims to be the first hotel in Hong Kong to provide a key card kiosk, so that guests can simply access their room key with a QR code sent to them following online check-in prior to their arrival. There’s also a smartphone app with in-room services, chat, and reservation capabilities. Guests can enjoy dinner with a view at Cruise restaurant on the 23rd floor, which features an outdoor area and the only rooftop bar in North Point. Both Cruise and The Farmhouse restaurants are available for hire, while a boardroom can host small meetings of up to 12, and Upper Farm, an outdoor venue located atop The Farmhouse overlooking the harbour is due to open soon.

Hong Kong Ocean Park Marriott Hotel
A strong proposition for event planners and theme-park enthusiasts alike, this new property from Marriott features the largest pillar-free ballroom on Hong Kong island with capacity for up to 1,200 seated. The 471-room hotel, which opened in November on the southern coast of Hong Kong Island, also offers extensive outdoor facilities and special access to Ocean Park theme park for exclusive meeting options. After an eventful day of work or exploration, guests can refresh in the outdoor lagoon pool, rejuvenate in Hong Kong’s first Harnn Heritage Spa or refuel at one of the hotel’s four restaurants and bars. These include the Canton Bistro for Cantonese specialities and the Prohibition Grill House & Cocktail Bar, an American steakhouse.
