From the idyllic islands of Phuket and Koh Samui to the bustling capital city Bangkok, a raft of hotel openings across the country are boosting Thailand’s appeal for events and incentives. We check out four of the best new additions…

Waldorf Astoria Bangkok
Hilton Luxury brand Waldorf Astoria chose the Thai capital for its South East Asian debut last summer. Waldorf Astoria Bangkok is located by the bustling Ratchaprasong intersection, within walking distance of renowned shopping precincts and the Erawan Shrine. Ideal for groups in search of an exclusive escape in this vibrant city, the property’s 171 spacious and luxuriously appointed guest rooms and suites feature spa-inspired bathrooms and marble bathtubs. The Loft on level 56 is a glamorous, New York-inspired bar, while The Champagne Bar, located at the hotel’s peak on level 57, offers an intimate, exclusive nightspot. Eateries include Front Room, the hotel’s signature restaurant, which presents a blend of “new Nordic” and Thai flavours in a relaxed setting, The Brasserie, Bull & Bear and Peacock Alley. On level 10, the 730sqm Magnolia Ballroom, complete with statement sweeping staircase for an impactful arrival experience, can accommodate up to 700 guests standing or 330 guests seated.

Rosewood Phuket
Rosewood also chose Thailand for its first South East Asia resort at the end of 2017 but opted for the island of Phuket – its Bangkok property is due to open this year. Nestled along a 600-metre secluded beachfront at Emerald Bay, Rosewood Phuket features 71 pool pavilions and villas that are immersed within the tropical landscape. Dining options include Ta Khai, a rustic seafood restaurant for authentic Thai dishes; Red Sauce, an Italian restaurant with sweeping views over the bay; The Shack for simply prepared seafood by the pool; and Mai, a chic poolside lounge. The Pavilion events space incorporates the 243sqm Glass House, Courtyard, Garden and Beach Lawn. Asaya, Rosewood’s integrated wellness concept is also available at the resort, offering a bespoke programme of alternative therapies, lifestyle coaching, fitness activities and specialised healing practices.

AVANI Sunset Coast Samui Resort & Villas
AVANI Sunset Coast Samui Resort & Villas is popular island Koh Samui’s latest opening from international lifestyle brand AVANI. Set within Pang Kha Bay overlooking the sea and Five Islands, the resort is a 40-minute drive from Samui International Airport, which is well connected with numerous daily flights from Bangkok and other Thai cities, along with direct flights from around Asia. Sheltered by a cove of golden sand and fringed by coconut palms, the hotel features 25 rooms, 27 one-bedroom pool villas, two one-bedroom beachfront pool villas and four two-bedroom beachfront pool villas. It also offers a beach restaurant and bar specialising in freshly caught fish dishes, an all-day dining restaurant, AVANIFIT gym, AVANI Pantry, Watersports Centre and two swimming pools.

Mövenpick Asara Resort & Spa Hua Hin
Back on the mainland, Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts announced the debut of a new upscale resort in Hua Hin last August. The five-star hotel – previously the Asara Villa & Suite Hua Hin – underwent a complete rebranding and refurbishment. Featuring a collection of 96 private suites and pool villas, Mövenpick Asara Resort & Spa Hua Hin blends contemporary design with traditional Thai charm in a prime oceanfront spot located just 10 minutes from the centre of Hua Hin and a two-hour drive from Bangkok. The resort’s suites offer large balconies or terraces featuring day beds, while the one- and two-bedroom villas include luxurious indoor living areas, outdoor decks and private plunge pools. For fitness and relaxation, the property offers the Asara Spa, as well as a modern, well-equipped fitness room, private outdoor infinity swimming pool and resort gardens that are ideal for taking a peaceful stroll.
