Some big names have debuted new properties in Shanghai over the past 18 months. We check out three of the best for #eventprofs to consider…

The Bvlgari Hotel Shanghai
Set on a scenic riverbank and just minutes from the iconic Bund and Shanghai City Centre, The Bvlgari Hotel Shanghai is ideal for MICE groups in search of ultimate luxury. Part of the SUHE CREEK project, the hotel features sweeping views of the Bund and Pudong’s dramatic skyline. Occupying the top eight floors of a 48-story tower that is also home to The Bvlgari Residences, the hotel has 82 rooms including 19 luxurious suites, a 2,000-square-metre BVLGARI Spa and fitness centre, meeting facilities, and the rooftop Il Ristorante – Niko Romito and Il Bar.

The Hotel’s tower is connected to the historic Chamber of Commerce Shanghai, originally completed in 1916, and now completely restored to evoke memories of its glorious heyday. The centrepiece of this magnificent building is the 500-square-metre, triple-height-ceilinged BVLGARI Ballroom. It also features haute-cuisine restaurant Bao Li Xuan, serving Cantonese classics and local Shanghainese specialties, and The Whisky Bar.

Bellagio Shanghai
The first Bellagio hotel outside of North America, the Bellagio Shanghai made its dazzling debut in the city in autumn 2017. Located at the northern end of the Bund on the banks of Suzhou River, next to the historic Waibaidu Bridge, Bellagio Shanghai has 162 luxurious rooms and suites, including the lavish 400sqm Presidential Suite, complete with its very own home theatre.

With a Grand Ballroom, Bella Vista, two meeting rooms and an Executive Boardroom totalling over 1,800sqm of event space, the hotel can cater to a variety of events. Dining options include LAGO, by award-wining Chef Julian Serrano serving authentic Italian cuisine on an expansive outdoor terrace, and Café Bellagio, which is designed to re-create the classic American diner experience.

The Shanghai EDITION
By occupying the former home of the Shanghai Power Company, The Shanghai EDITION took an American art deco building and transformed it into a modern boutique hotel. Spread across two towers on the corner of Nanjing East and Henan roads, the hotel places particular attention on public spaces, dedicating 10 floors to its three restaurants, two bars, nightclub, two rooftop lounges, spa and event spaces.

The Shanghai EDITION’s 145 rooms boast views of the historical Bund area of Shanghai Puxi, against the backdrop of Pudong’s modern skyscrapers. Restaurants include Jason Atherton’s HIYA, a slick Japanese lzakaya-inspired restaurant, while Punch Room is designed to be a modern reincarnation of London’s 19th-century private clubs. Seven event venues, including studios and an executive boardroom, can host between 18 and 108 guests.
