Cool Copenhagen is THE must-visit city for 2019 according to Lonely Planet’s latest hot list. So, we head to the Danish capital to check out three of the best new hotel openings…

Hotel Herman K
This sleek and stylish boutique bolthole opened its doors in the heart of the city in June. The luxury property, set in an old transformer station, offers 31 high-end rooms where soft luxury carpets and elegant white marble contrast with the raw concrete ceiling and iron louvre. Hotel Herman K is home to one of the city’s hottest new destination restaurants, Roxie. The exclusive three-storey restaurant serving modern Nordic gastronomy is run by prestigious class-leading restaurateurs – also known as the team behind the two Michelin-starred Kadeau. After dinner, guests can head to the bar for cocktails and enjoy the cool international vibe and unique design. Outside, an urban roof terrace is set between the surrounding historical Copenhagen buildings.

Hotel Sanders
Another chic boutique, the Sanders was opened in late 2017 by renowned ballet dancer Alexander Kølpin. Built in a historical classical building, it offers 52 rooms across five floors and is located just around the corner from The Royal Danish Theatre. The hotel’s design features interiors inspired by the golden age of travel, with rattan ceilings and woven rugs contributing a warm and rustic feel, alongside a handpicked collection of work from both local emerging and established artists on display. Guests can dine under the stars in the stunning fifth floor Conservatory, the relaxed Sanders Kitchen or Tata Bar.

Scandic Kødbyen
Larger groups, or those in need of conference facilities, should check out the new Scandic Kødbyen from Scandic Hotels, which debuted in Copenhagen’s Meatpacking District earlier this year. The property offers 370 rooms and the MØR restaurant and bar, where guests can watch succulent steaks simmering on the grill in the open kitchen and dine side by side with expert chefs. Scandic Kødbyen also offers 11 flexible meeting rooms that can accommodate up to 400 people for meetings, conferences and events in a variety of formats.
