It’s a Bavarian beer fiesta this October, so pop on over for the liquid gold
An estimated six million litres of beer are consumed across Oktoberfest – the annual German festival that features an array of beer tents, a crossbow competition, live music and traditional folk entertainment.
Treat yourself to a stay in one of the new luxury offerings in the city, as after a heady day keeping up with the Bavarians, a relaxing five-star stay is exactly what your head will need. Check out the new Andaz Munich Schwabinger Tor, located between Leopoldstrasse and Berliner Strasse, within easy walking distance of the Pinakothek and Haus der Kunst.
There are 277 urban sleek bedrooms, which include 43 suites, while up on the sixth floor, the rooftop sun deck includes an inviting pool from which to enjoy views across the city and on to the Alps.
Describing itself as Munich’s first hybrid hotel, the Schwabinger Wahrheit (right) is a boutique property offering slick, compact yet contemporary spaces in the heart of the city.
The bijou yet beautiful terrace overlooking the courtyard provides a zen space to unwind, so if you fancy a day off the beers, try out the Finnish sauna and outdoor Jacuzzi. Those in search of an international group should note that Mandarin Oriental, Sofitel and Kempinski all offer opulent properties in the city.
