Sitiuated above the Lauterbrunnen Valley, a legendary Swiss retreat has been brought gloriously back to life. The Grand Hotel Belvedere in Wengen, Switzerland, is experiencing a grand rebirth, and is coming back revived, restored, and reimagined for a new era of Alpine adventures. The hotel has been a cherished landmark for generations, and now, thanks to a careful renovation, it reopens with a fresh yet timeless spirit, offering incredible views of the Jungfrau and all the outdoor adventure you could dream of. The first phase of the hotel’s revival introduced the newly completed Waldrand building, with the full grandeur of the Grand Belvedere building and spa opening this month.

The Waldrand features 36 Alpine-inspired rooms that offer a serene and contemporary style. Each room has been crafted with locally influenced materials and details and the interiors blend traditional Swiss warmth with modern design. Now the final restoration is complete, the hotel offers a total of 90 rooms and suites to choose from.

The culinary offerings are just as exciting. At Restaurant Waldrand, dishes draw inspiration from across the Alps, inviting guests to share flavourful plates made with seasonal regional produce. The setting is a peaceful, minimalist space surrounded by nature, where simplicity enhances every bite. Meanwhile, the cosy Bergwald Bar offers a warm welcome throughout the day, perfect for a morning espresso or a comforting slice of Swiss citrus polenta cake in the evening. Brasserie Belvedere, The Belvi Salon, and Sonnenbad, have also opened this month, adding new culinary experiences to this already enticing destination.

What truly sets the Grand Hotel Belvedere apart is its seamless connection with nature. Whatever time of the year you choose to visit, the options for outdoor adventure are abundant, making it an ideal location for an incentive trip. Ski the legendary World Cup descent, snowshoe through Leiterhorn forests, or kayak on Lake Brienz. In the warmer months, you can paraglide in front of the iconic Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau peaks, visit traditional farms in Wengen, or sail across Lake Thun.

We certainly can’t forget to mention the newly opened luxurious spa, inspired by Japanese onsens and surrounded by the Alps. Guests will be able to unwind with Susanne Kaufmann treatments, take in the view from the relaxation lounge, and make the most of wellness facilities including a sauna, hammam, indoor and outdoor heated pool, and even an ice bath. It promises to be a sanctuary of calm and restoration in one of the most scenic settings in Europe.

Whether you’re drawn by the skiing, the scenery, the heritage, or the slow Alpine rhythm of life, the Grand Hotel Belvedere’s return is a celebration of place, craft, and elegance. With its next chapter now unfolding, this historic retreat invites you to rediscover Wengen in all its glory.
