Cyprus doesn’t always make the top of the MICE shortlist, which is exactly why it should. It has the weather, the history, the infrastructure and the flight time (around four hours from the UK). Cap St Georges sits on the edge of the Akamas National Park, one of Cyprus’s most protected and unspoilt stretches of coastline, with a private 130-metre beach cove and centuries-old olive trees running through the grounds. It gives delegates that remote-feeling without being completely impractical. Paphos International Airport is around 40 minutes away, and the resort is represented in the UK by Destinations Unlimited.

The event infrastructure is considerably more substantial than the setting might lead you to expect. Five dedicated event spaces cover a total of 710 square metres, ranging from the Romeo Ballroom, the flagship, at 420 square metres with a built-in stage, dance floor and a ceiling that peaks at 5.8 metres, down to the Panorama Room on the seventh floor, which overlooks the Mediterranean and works well for smaller conferences and receptions with a view. The Dias Room handles up to 130 theatre-style and comes with two breakout syndicate rooms attached, which is one of those practical details that makes a real difference when you’re running a full day programme. The Hera Room is divisible and suits mid-scale conferences and product exhibitions. For the largest evening events, the Arena takes up to 250 seated or 600 standing. Across all spaces, the team can accommodate everything from a focused leadership offsite to a full-scale conference with gala dinner.

For residential programmes, 202 rooms and suites are available, all with floor-to-ceiling windows and sea views. The resort has 10 restaurants and bars, two outdoor pools and a heated indoor pool, the Cleopatra Spa across 2,585 square metres — one of the largest on the island — a waterpark, football pitches and golf. It is the type of resort where keeping a group entertained across three or four days is not going to be a problem. The wider destination is worth factoring in too. Paphos is one of the most historically interesting parts of Cyprus, the Tombs of the Kings, the Roman mosaics at Kato Paphos and the harbour all sit within easy reach, and the Akamas National Park is on the doorstep for groups who want to get outdoors between sessions.
