Birch has announced that its second hotel and members club Birch Selsdon will open this Spring in South Croydon.
Taking over what was formerly the Selsdon Park Hotel, the property is undergoing a significant renovation ahead of its opening, and we’re thrilled to reveal it will also be the host venue for micebook Ventures on 5-7 June 2023.
Birch Selsdon will offer 181 bedrooms, a lido, tennis courts, a wellness space, a co-working hub, activity studios for pottery and screen-printing, and several communal areas ranging from snugs to an orangery.
The hotel will also be home to three bars and two restaurants, which will make use of foraged ingredients and seasonal produce from the on-site kitchen garden.
Like its sister property in Cheshunt, the same ethos of working with the existing building, restoring and improving the rooms rather than gutting everything and starting from scratch, is being applied to the Selsdon redevelopment.
The 200-acre sister site, which was once home to a golf course, has undergone a rewilding project headed by designer and environmentalist Sebastian Cox, with free-roaming long-horned cattle and Exmoor ponies being introduced as part of the initiative.
Birch Selsdon will have a membership programme which allows people from the surrounding areas to access the whole estate for work or pleasure.
The hotel is a joint venture between Aprirose and Birch Hospitality Ltd following the success of the first site in Hertfordshire.
