Dublin is experiencing a boom in hotel development that’s expected to bring more than 5,000 new bedrooms on stream between 2018 and 2020, giving the city’s accommodation portfolio a much-needed boost. We check out four new options for event planners to watch out for…
Clayton Hotel Charlemont
One of the city’s newest hotels, the four-star Clayton Hotel Charlemont opened in November on the banks of the capital’s Grand Canal. The 189-room property is built across three 18th century Georgian buildings with an additional four-storey building linked by an atrium. Event planners can choose from six purpose-built meeting rooms accommodating up to 40 delegates, which include restored feature boardrooms located within the grand setting of the Georgian Buildings. The bustling Lockside bar and Gaudens Restaurant both offer views over the Grand Canal.
Aloft Dublin City
Marriott’s Aloft brand made its Irish debut in Dublin last year, with the opening of a 202-room property in the Liberties – a historic and vibrant area in the heart of Dublin that has undergone significant revitalisation in recent years. The hotel is conveniently located near Guinness Storehouse and St Patrick’s Cathedral, which can also be spotted from the seventh floor. With a modern and colourful façade, the hotel offers 202 loft-like guest rooms, on-site dining at the Re:Fuel restaurant, plus the brand’s signature W XYZ bar and Re:Mix lounge – Aloft’s twist on the traditional lobby experience – both situated on the top floor of the hotel, making the most of the panoramic city views.
Hyatt Centric The Liberties Dublin
The first Hyatt property in Ireland will make its debut this May, joining Aloft in the Liberties in a prime spot opposite St Patrick’s Cathedral. The 234-room hotel, which is being developed by Hodson Bay Group Management Ltd, will be a lifestyle property aimed at eager-to-explore, millennial-minded business and leisure guests. The hotel will also feature a state-of-the-art gym and social spaces from which guests can enjoy a wide range of restaurant, bar, café and lounge options, in addition to a 500sqm conference space for external events.
Hard Rock Hotel Dublin
Music fans will be excited to hear that Hard Rock is also opening its first hotel in Ireland in 2020. Hard Rock Hotel Dublin, 120-room property located in Dublin’s city centre on Lord Edward Street, will shine a light on the musical vibrancy of the destination, past and present. It will comprise two structures; an existing listed property originally known as the Exchange Buildings and currently the site of the Parliament Hotel, and the adjacent Fashion House Building, which will be joined by a new glass link bridge. As with all Hard Rock hotels, music memorabilia and lush furnishings will adorn the interior of the property, which will also feature an all-day dining restaurant and bar.
