A new 82-room boutique hotel has opened today (1 September) in the heart of London’s Mayfair.

Hospitality representation company 8th Floor has been appointed to represent The Shepherd Mayfair, which is located at the gateway to historic Shepherd Market and positioned as a more intimate, residential alternative to the area’s traditional grand hotels.

The property occupies the site of Mayfair’s oldest known house, The Cottage, which dates back to 1618 and was once home to a shepherd who tended his flock in the surrounding fields. Those fields later hosted the annual May Fair, before architect and developer Edward Shepherd transformed the area into the urban quarter that still bears his name.

Designed by Timothy Shepherd of architecture and design studio Shepherd&, the hotel features 82 rooms and suites across six floors. Interiors combine warm colour palettes, tailored detailing and understated design intended to evoke the feel of a private Mayfair residence.

The hotel’s food and drink offer includes Fayre, a 62-cover neighbourhood restaurant serving seasonal British dishes throughout the day, while The Lounge offers a more relaxed café-style setting for coffee, light dining and informal gatherings, along with an outdoor terrace.

Teddy’s, a hidden late-night cocktail bar located on the lower ground floor, completes the line-up.
