The Bermuda Tourism Authority (BTA) has appointed London-based agency Black Diamond as its UK trade and MICE agency in a bid to boost high-value business events and group travel from one of its key international markets.
The partnership will see Black Diamond deliver a targeted programme of travel trade and MICE activity, including planner outreach, trade education, familiarisation trips, events and ongoing collaboration with airline, hotel and destination partners.
Bermuda is positioning itself as a premium yet accessible option for UK-based planners, offering a flight time of just over seven hours from London alongside a distinctive mix of pink-sand beaches, cultural heritage and upscale hotel product.
For the meetings and incentives sector, the island provides around 15,800 sqm of meeting space and more than 1,200 guest rooms in hotels with event facilities, as well as a range of unique venues including historic forts, galleries and waterfront locations.
The appointment builds on recent activity in the market, including a Bermuda trade mission in London and Manchester organised by Black Diamond, and supported by British Airways to highlight the destination’s strong air connectivity from the UK.
Michael DeCouto, chief sales and marketing officer at the Bermuda Tourism Authority, said the destination offers UK travellers a destination that is close enough to be practical, yet distinctive enough to feel truly rewarding. “This appointment is about deepening engagement, supporting our airline and industry partners, and building year-round demand that delivers real value for Bermuda’s tourism economy.”
Jim Odoire, managing director at Black Diamond, added: “Together with our airline, trade and MICE partners, we’ll be rolling out focused initiatives designed to put Bermuda firmly on the map and inspire more visitors to experience everything this extraordinary destination has to offer.”
