The micebook Shadow Board came together on 12 April for its latest quarterly meet-up, hosted in the stylish surroundings of The Ampersand Hotel, London. Bringing together some of the industry’s rising leaders, the session focused on tackling key challenges, sharing experiences and collectively problem-solving on the topics shaping the events landscape right now.

The afternoon kicked off with a destination spotlight from the Monaco Convention Bureau, marking the destination’s first engagement with the group following their recent Shadow Board sponsorship. After an inspiring destination video and overview, the conversation quickly turned interactive, with members openly discussing perceptions of Monaco and their own experiences delivering events there.

Those who had worked in the destination were quick to champion its strengths, from flexibility and collaboration to the unique sense of community. As one member put it: “They’re not competing with each other. They’re like a family.”

Buyers from across the industry were in attendance as part of the micebook nineteen Shadow Board, representing agencies including XSEM, Nteractive, Strata, Principal Global Events, Top Banana, Seven Events, Your Event Solutions, Goose Live Events, Emota, TRO, Live Group and Pure Communications Group.

The session then shifted into a series of candid leadership talks from within the group. Nteractive’s Ian Cummings shared insights on running an agency, Top Banana’s Jemma Peers delivered an honest and engaging take on people management, and Yellowfish’a Laura Pace wrapped up with reflections on growth and embracing risk.

A recurring theme was the importance of self trust, showing up in every stage of your career and leading with compassion. Peers rhetorically asked the group ‘Who owns your progress?’, which resonated strongly and left the group with plenty to reflect on.

The evening wrapped up with a relaxed networking reception, as attendees enjoyed dinner, drinks and some friendly competition in The Ampersand’s games room.
