The Alliance of Independent Event Agencies (AIEA) has announced that Sabine Edwards, MD of Pendleton Events, has stepped up to the role of chair, taking over from Chris Walls of Events2 Ltd.
In addition to Sabine’s appointment, Aimee Nicholas, director at Clearcut Venues, has been named the interim Vice Chair. Together, they are excited to embark on a new chapter for the Alliance, as the organisation continues to evolve and support its growing network of more than 100 member agencies.
“I’m looking forward to what will no doubt be an exciting and challenging two years and helping to grow the voice of the Alliance through events like the Industry Great Debate is something I am particularly passionate about,” said Edwards.
“As a collection of small and medium-sized businesses, we have a lot to say and deliver—not just for our own businesses, but for the benefit of our clients and the industry. We remain committed to professional development and will build on the success of the Teach and Train series. Accountability will also remain a key focus as we strive to ensure that our members uphold the highest standards in the industry.”
Nicholas adds: “I’m thrilled to step into the role of interim vice chair for the Alliance. I’m passionate about driving fresh energy into the group and making sure we’re an open, exciting and impactful force in the market. It’s time to shake off any outdated perceptions and ensure everyone, whether they’re seasoned pros or just discovering us – feels welcome, inspired and ready to collaborate. I can’t wait to champion change and help us all to shine brighter together.”
This year’s Industry Great Debate takes place on 16 January 2025 in collaboration in partnership with the Cambridge Union Society and micebook CEO and founder Chetan Shah will be among those opposing the motion: ‘This house believes industry awards have lost their value.’
