The Sustainable Event Show gathered leaders in the events industry at Chicago Booth London Conference Centre to focus on all things sustainability last Thursday (31 October).
Event buyers including representatives from agencies such as Broadsword, Pure, Eclipse Global and mcm, took part in seminars and met with sustainable event suppliers including event venues, services and technology.
micebook was at the show alongside event:decision and our partners Encore EMEA and Wyboston Lakes to promote our inaugural Power 50 Most Sustainable Agencies initiative, which aims to identify and recognise agencies that lead the way in sustainable event management. (The deadline for entries is 18 November and you can find out more here.)
Encore EMEA created a unique installation featuring recycled materials (main image), and other suppliers at the show included Sustainability Simplified, Barbican, Exclusive Collection, Ashton Gate, BMA House, d&b Solutions, Better World Bar Hire and many more.
Sustainability Simplified was showcasing its new free guide with a 10-step framework to becoming a leader in Sustainable Events. Written for event agencies, brands, in-house teams and event service businesses, it aims to invigorate action and “unstick” companies wanting to demonstrate their commitment to the climate. The free guide can be downloaded here.
Co-Founder Ben Quarrell commented: “Most people I speak to have started to do ‘something’ but then get stuck and go round in circles when trying to work out how to move forward, how to turn ambitions and words on pages into changes that make an impact, and work for their business.”
Seminars covered topics including the increasing shift from just carbon impact to the social impact of events, and how making more responsible choices can affect real people’s lives, as well as how brands are representing themselves responsibly, sustainable travel solutions and more.
