Six Senses debuts in Japan with Kyoto opening

Six Senses debuts in Japan with Kyoto opening 1024 683 micebook.

Six Senses Kyoto has recently opened its doors in Kyoto, marking the luxury brand’s entry into Japan.

The property offers 81 rooms and suites, all featuring Sleep With Six Senses, promoting peaceful slumber through bespoke organic mattresses, temperature regulating pillows, duvets, and organic cotton sheets.

The hotel’s design draws inspiration from the Heian period (794-1185), when Heian-kyo (now Kyoto) was the capital of Japan, considered by many the golden age of art and culture.

The hotel’s F&B options include Sekki, an all-day dining restaurant, which has hyper-seasonal weekly menus and drinks celebrating artisanal local and sustainable ingredients; Café Sekki, offering a selection of fresh brews, craft teas, homemade kombucha, healthy juices, sweets and pastries, and Nine Tails, a speakeasy cocktail bar serving spirits and non-alcoholic options.

Inspired by Kyoto’s Zen philosophy, Six Senses Spa integrates traditional healing techniques with modern science. Guests can begin their journey with a signature Wellness Screening, which analyses key health biomarkers in minutes, allowing Wellness Practitioners to make personalised recommendations tailored to individual needs and goals.

Sustainability is at the core of the hotel’s values and guests can join a sustainability tour, explore interactive workshops at the Earth Lab, or create natural body products at the Alchemy Bar, all designed to foster a deeper understanding and connection with local culture and sustainable practices.

In addition, the Sustainability Fund supported by 0.5 percent of the hotel’s revenue will go toward locally based organisations, Biotope Network Kyoto and Council for Kyoto Traditional Forest Culture.
