DRPG Group has expanded its global footprint with the acquisition of two businesses, one based in the US and the other based in the UK.

The first is US based The Special Event Company in Raleigh, North Carolina, which is a full-service, experiential event agency producing creative and impactful live and virtual events and strategic communications, for a wide range of corporate clients across North America.

Dale Parmenter, group CEO, commented: “This marks a pivotal moment for DRPG’s global and North American expansion. The Special Event Company’s proven track record, innovative approach, and booming location provide us with a solid foundation to further elevate our presence in key markets.”

The Special Event Company, a WBENC-certified business, was originally founded by Sally Webb, CSEP, and has been a prominent player in the event industry for over 30 years. It’s location in the heart of the US Research and Innovation triangle gives DRPG strategic access to a thriving business landscape.

Hunter Gray, VP of The Special Event Company, said: “We are excited to join forces with DRPG, knowing that this collaboration will not only enhance our capabilities but also contribute to their ambitious growth plans. Together, we aim to set new standards in the creative communications and event planning landscape.”

The original founder, Sally Webb will become a Non-Exec Director and DRPG’s group director of events Matt Franks, will assume the role of CEO, where he will split his time between the UK and USA.

The second acquisition is marketing agency OWB, based in St Paul’s Square, Birmingham – a well-established agency, specialising in consumer facing external comms and marketing for a diverse range of corporate clients.

“Until recently we had not focused on Birmingham; however, after our involvement in the 2022 Commonwealth Games, we recognise the City’s continued growth as a hub of creative excellence in the UK and acquiring OWB allows us to be part of that growing community,” Parmenter continued.

“We are excited to welcome The Special Event Company and OWB to the DRPG family, and we believe their expertise will play a crucial role in advancing our capabilities and offering unparalleled value to our clients.”
