Already a popular destination for events, Manchester is set to increase its appeal further this year with a host of exciting new venues and hotels opening across the city.

We check out some of the best…

Treehouse Hotel Manchester

SH Hotels & Resorts will debut its quirky Treehouse Hotel brand in Manchester this year. Located in the lively city centre, close to Harvey Nichols, Selfridges and the Manchester Arena, the 216-room hotel will feature a “treehouse canopy” inspired entrance, several dining options, including a top floor restaurant and bar with uninterrupted views of the city, and a rooftop venue.

It marks the first phase of a multimillion-dollar redevelopment of the former Renaissance Hotel on Deansgate. Treehouse Hotel Manchester will bring new life to the building, incorporating energy and carbon savings along with extensive use of reclaimed and recycled materials in the construction of the building and furniture. The building façade will also feature local artists’ murals as an homage to the city and community.

Factory International

Factory International, a new global destination for arts, music and culture is opening in the heart of the city in June. It will offer event planners an innovative new range of spaces capable of hosting everything from major exhibitions and gala dinners to stand-out brand experiences and fashion events.

Available for hire throughout the year, the venue will offer up to 13,200m2 of flexible indoor and outdoor space and accommodating up to 5,000 people supported by the expertise of event, production and technical teams. Programmed and operated by the team behind Manchester International Festival (MIF), Factory International will make a lasting difference and give back to the region, with profits from events returned to the arts and into The Factory Academy, a scheme which develops the next generation of diverse talent in our local communities.

Malmaison Manchester Deansgate

This new property from Malmaison, the 18th in the brand’s portfolio and the second in the city of Manchester, is set to open on Albert Square in April. Malmaison Manchester Deansgate will be home to 70 bedrooms, a 114-cover signature Chez Mal brasserie as well as a rooftop bar and terrace and two private events pods.

The bedrooms will ‘pay homage’ to the retro design of the 60s and 70s, with bold patterns and striking artwork. The rooftop will feature Sora, a pan-Asian tapas and cocktail bar, serving small plates from with a selection of sushi, Robatayaki and Pan-Asian style tapas dishes on the menu.

Mollie’s Manchester

Mollie’s is heading for Manchester’s Old Granada Studios ­– a famous city landmark, currently being reinvented as part of a vibrant new cultural destination. Mollie’s Manchester, from the team behind Soho House, will offer 140 rooms, a 164-cover diner restaurant, a lounge bar with live music and private hire event space, workspace and lounge, and an outdoor heated terrace,

With interiors designed by Soho House, high-spec contemporary rooms, Mollie’s will offer all-day dining, plus digital check-in, workstations, food on the go in the style of a classic American motel-diner. This will be the third and largest Mollie’s site to date, following recent launches in Oxfordshire and Bristol.

New Century

Manchester’s iconic New Century Hall relaunched in 2022 after a total refurbishment as part of the development of the Noma district, a 20-acre mixed-use neighbourhood. This hidden gem played a big part in Manchester’s musical heritage, hosting acts including Jimi Hendrix, The Rolling Stones, The Bee Gees and Tina Turner.

The hall has been fully restored with its vintage wood wall panelling, sprung dance floor and psychedelic illuminated ceiling fully intact. Now equipped with a fully stocked bar, state of the art sound and stage production equipment, the venue plays host to an eclectic range of events throughout the year. The venue is also available for private hire events with catering options available in-house from the independent food traders based in the kitchens.

Forty Seven

This luxury, five-star boutique hotel (main image) is set to open within the Grade-II listed Lancashire House, a former shipping warehouse located at 47 Peter Street, following the launch of Indian restaurant Asha’s restaurant and Peterman bar launched last year.

The hotel will boast 32 bedrooms, including a range of duplex and signature suites, all complete with ‘bold designs which complement both the heritage and original features of the building.’
