We shine the spotlight on Broadsword, winner of the Best Global Agency and Grand Prix Awards at this year’s micebook Awards. The agency also picked up the Highly Commended accolade in the Best Internal Communications Event category. We look at what made them stand out for our judges…

A global agency creating events that connect and inspire, with offices in London and Hong Kong, judges were impressed by Broadsword’s “compelling and values-led submission”.

2024 marked several milestones for Broadsword as it celebrated its 18th year in business and achieved B Corp certification. The agency also added five team members last year, delivered 177 events across 12 countries and grew by 47%—representing its best financial year yet.

Its portfolio spans the professional services, finance, charity, and political sectors and events range from Thomson Reuter’s Trust Conference to The Women of The Future Programme and The Labour Party’s winning election campaign.

To reflect its shift to global full-service events agency, Broadsword recently carried out a rebrand using insights gathered from clients, suppliers and the team, resulting in a new look and refreshed brand values: Authentic, Brave, and Committed.

Broadsword operates fully remotely, enabling the team 31 (from working parents to full time apprentices) to balance work, life, and study. Daily catch ups, virtual events, volunteering, social events and an annual company offsite help to maintain a collaborative culture. In a bi-annual survey, 100% of staff felt a sense of belonging. Meanwhile, a new wellbeing app (YuLife) provides a 24/7 virtual GP, EAP, and voucher rewards for daily activity from walking to Sudoku challenges. There are also six mental health first aiders and employee led working groups on wellbeing, inclusion, and sustainability.

The agency is committed to shaping a more inclusive and responsible industry through creativity, community, and purpose. In 2024, the team collectively spent 561 hours volunteering and mentoring (a 60% uplift on 2023). For 2025, the agency has partnered with Future First to support an underprivileged school and tackle social mobility, empowering local young people through work experience and career resources.

In addition to its B Corp status, Broadsword is independently certified as a net zero business and recipients of the carbon footprint standard – offsetting its carbon footprint since 2022. All team members have completed sustainability awareness training with isla to strengthen knowledge.

One of our judges said: “The marketing showreel is engaging and well-executed, and their B Corp certification is a standout achievement that reinforces their commitment to responsible business practices. Their approach to CSR is ambitious and inspiring, setting a high standard the wider industry would do well to follow. The focus on company culture, social impact, and employee engagement is clearly embedded in their operations and strongly aligned with their stated purpose.”
