The Bulb, part of Trivandi Group, has been appointed as sustainability consultancy for the Invictus Games Birmingham 2027, the multi-sport event for wounded, injured and sick military service personnel
The appointment will support the Games’ ambitious vision to deliver meaningful environmental and social impact while creating a sustainable approach for future host cities.
The 2.5-year consultancy, running until September 2027, will be led by Selina Donald, director of sustainability and Meg Strahle, sustainability consultant, with advisory support from David Stubbs, former head of sustainability for London 2012.
The Bulb will apply its award-winning methodology to create a bespoke sustainability strategy unique to Invictus Games 2027. This comprehensive approach goes far beyond carbon measurement to encompass environmental impact reduction, positive social outcomes, and sustainable practices that future Games can build upon.
Key deliverables include developing a sustainability strategy with SMART targets (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound), operational implementation plans across all functional areas, supporting the social impact plan, procurement consultancy, baseline measurements, stakeholder engagement, and a comprehensive sustainability and social impact report.
“We are excited to support Invictus Games Birmingham 2027 in setting new standards for sustainable major event delivery,” said Selina Donald, founder of The Bulb, and Trivandi’s director of sustainability. “This project allows us to demonstrate how sustainability can be embedded into every aspect of event planning while delivering meaningful impact for the environment, the West Midlands community, and most importantly, the wounded, injured and sick service personnel who are at the heart of these Games.”
This appointment builds on The Bulb’s established track record in major event sustainability, including recent work on Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games and COP28.
