We shine the spotlight on four newly opened or upcoming properties in Costa Rica, ideal for meetings and incentives…

Waldorf Astoria Costa Rica Punta Cacique

Perched cliffside on the Punta Cacique peninsula, this recently opened resort offers the 188 rooms and stunning views of Costa Rica’s Northern Pacific Coast.

The resort features six culinary experiences, each infused with the flavours and traditions of Guanacaste. Executive chef Nicolas Piatti and F&B director Ana Martinez prioritise sourcing local ingredients from small-scale farmers and nearby plantations ensuring every dish narrates the story of the land, the people, and the rich cultural heritage of the region.

Facilities include a multi-level pool, spa, open-air yoga studio and fitness centre, and versatile indoor and outdoor meeting and event space.

Waldorf Astoria Costa Rica Punta Cacique offers a range of immersive experiences including private tour to the Brunca region—where they can explore thriving coffee plantations, learn about the intricate art of coffee production, and enjoy an exclusive tasting led by Costa Rican Barista Champion Azofeifa. Hands-on activities such as chocolate sculpting, farm tours and more have been designed to connect visitors with the destination.

Nekajui, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve

Opened in February 2025, Nekajui is the first Ritz-Carlton Reserve in Central and South America and the eighth addition to the brand’s exclusive portfolio.

Named after the Chorotega word for “lush garden,” Nekajui is set in 1,400 acres on Costa Rica’s Peninsula Papagayo with 107 ocean-facing rooms, suites, and three luxury treetop tents, a spa with hydrotherapy pools, and a beach club accessible only by a funicular.

Upon arrival, guests are welcomed at La Casita, inspired by traditional Costa Rican villages, before entering La Casona, the resort’s airy and expansive living room, offering mesmerising panoramic views of the Papagayo coastline.

The resort’s dining offerings include Puna, the signature restaurant by acclaimed Chef Diego Muñoz, renowned for his role in shaping modern Peruvian cuisine, Niri Beach Club featuring a menu inspired by Spanish and Portuguese cuisine and Ámbar, a suspended treetop bar.

There’s a raft of options for incentive groups, from outdoor adventures such as ziplining, guided wildlife hikes, and serene canoe excursions through enchanting mangroves to surfing at the nearby Santa Rosa National Park, or a round of golf at Peninsula Papagayo’s private 18-hole, par-72 Arnold Palmer Signature course.

Six Senses Resort and Spa Papagayo

This property is expected to open in late 2025, further expanding the luxury offerings on Peninsula Papagayo.

Designed by London-based architect John Heah, the luxury resort concept will frame panoramic views of the Guanacaste archipelago from the Papagayo Peninsula.

Located 40 minutes from Liberia International Airport, Six Senses Papagayo will feature 41 secluded pool villas developed withing a forested beachfront, and 31 residences.

Other highlights include Six Senses’ wellness programming at the spa and fitness centre; and an organic farm located in the heart of the property including fruit, vegetable and herb gardens, inspiring the chef’s menus and signature spa treatments.

There is also an emphasis on community and celebration, whether that means a knees-up during a celebration on the beach, or a lazy day spent with loved ones.

St. Regis Papagayo

Marriott International has a signed agreement to debut the iconic St. Regis Hotels & Resorts brand in Costa Rica in early 2027.

Inspired by the local culture and its ocean surroundings, the new-build St. Regis Papagayo is slated to feature 120 hotel rooms and 143 residential units.

The hotel expects to offer six distinct culinary venues, including Casa Club for casual gourmet dining; The Cliff, inspired by Japanese and Costa Rican influences; a Beach Club & Grill; and the signature St. Regis Bar & Speakeasy.

Other planned amenities include the St. Regis Library, multiple swimming pools, a spa, an exclusive beach club, and extensive indoor and outdoor space for meetings and banquets space for events and celebrations.

The property will be located between Panama Bay and Culebra Bay, just 25 minutes from Liberia International Airport.
