Its all happening in Florence right now, with a flurry of luxury properties opening their doors in time for Spring. We check out three exciting new hotels ideal for meeting and incentive groups…

The Hoxton, Florence

Opened on 3 March and marking the brand’s second hotel in Italy, The Hoxton, Florence is set in the heart of the city’s historic centre, a stone’s throw from galleries, boutiques and bakeries and iconic landmarks such as the Duomo, Uffizi Gallery, and the Fortezza da Basso.

Its 161 rooms are split across two buildings: a 16th century late- Renaissance palazzo with its original facade and impressive vaulted arcade, and a 1980s Andrea Branzi-designed building, that serves as a modernist juxtaposition, with its timber slatted facade and minimal, linear architecture.

Two dedicated event spaces will offer contrasting atmospheres to suit all occasions and events. A 90 sqm moody vaulted wine cellar – La Riserva – in the basement has two connecting rooms and a feature bar. Up top, a 130 sqm shaded rooftop terrace is reserved for private hire, complete with its own bar and panoramic views across the city. The courtyard will also be available for private hire and offers a striking open-air space for special events.

Restaurant Alassio will specialise in Mediterranean plates and classic comfort-food, while Enoteca Violetta is a laidback, neighbourhood wine bar offering a diverse wine list that features both local and international selections, paired with Italian snacks.

Collegio alla Querce, Auberge Resorts Collection, Florence

This ultra luxurious new retreat from the Auberge Resorts Collection, set within pristine gardens on a rolling hill on the northside of Florence’s historic city centre, is also making its much-anticipated debut this March.

Featuring 83 rooms, an original chapel, two restaurants, and a signature bar, the property sits on a hilltop overlooking the Duomo di Firenze and the Tuscan countryside. Dining options include a destination restaurant, a glass-enclosed garden room set amongst olive trees for daytime dining, a sophisticated bar and cigar lounge set in the former academic admissions office, and an outdoor pool bar offering light bites and cocktails.

The property will also boast an on-site enoteca offering tastings of the finest wines in Italy. For those looking for an authentic Tuscan culinary experience, tastings, private dinners and cooking classes will be available in the signature restaurant. For meetings and celebrations, a dedicated meeting room will be complemented by the theatre and chapel, which will double as space for events, art installations and workshops.

W Florence

The opening of W Florence is slated for spring 2025, marking the debut of the second W property in Italy, though an official opening date has not yet been confirmed. Marriott’s luxury lifestyle brand has transformed Florence’s old Grand Hotel Majestic, bringing the W’s distinctive blend of Italian charm and contemporary flair to the historic city.

Perched at the gateway to Florence’s historic centre, W Florence will feature 119 stylish rooms, including 16 suites, showcasing a fusion of modern elegance and artistic elements that celebrate Florence’s renowned history. The Penthouse Suite will offer ample living space and a private terrace with breathtaking views of the Duomo and the church of Santa Maria Novella.

The ground floor will host the iconic W Lounge, perfectly integrating the dynamic of the city within the hotel with live music, DJ sets and cocktail culture. This lounge will be a mix of indoor and outdoor spaces around a partially covered central courtyard. The rooftop garden is set to become a meeting place where classic sophistication meets a contemporary mood.
