We share highlights from Worldspan’s winning entry in the Best Charity or CSR Event category at this year’s micebook Awards…
Following a successful project, which saw Worldspan create a bespoke mass hiring event model for job site Indeed and its client the NHS, Indeed approached Worldspan to replicate and adapt the model to help displaced Ukrainian refugees across Europe find work.
The “mass hiring fair” concept allowed Indeed and Worldspan to move at speed. Following two pilot events, five events were held at easily accessible venues in Warsaw, Berlin, London, Milan and Amsterdam.
They were publicised to the refugees through a partnership with the respective local governments in each city, who supported them with free advertising on local transport. In addition, posters and leaflets were distributed to the refugee centres via a host of NGO’s and local government organisations.
Social media channels and WhatsApp groups were also used, as were Ukrainian Influencers publicising them on their social media channels.
This was a creative and innovative event idea, successfully executed and then extended for the purposes of fulfilling a CSR commitment. Both Indeed and Worldspan committed significant time and resource on a pro bono basis to ensure the success of the initiative and the outcomes.
4,531 candidates attended across the event series (6,000+ including the pilot events), 1,932 interviews took place, and over 1,000 job offers were made on the day, across the event series.
Judges described it as “an inspiring idea that demonstrates the power of collaboration, highlighting that the clever use of past knowledge and resources even with limited funds can generate results.”
